🔆SHPE CONFERENCE 2024 RECAP🔆
At the beginning of the month our team and members had the amazing opportunity to travel to the 2024 National SHPE Conference in Anaheim, California 🛩️🌴 Thank you to all of those who supported us along the way to make this possible🤩A special thanks thank you to Honors Carolina, Carolina Covenant, UNC Scholars Program, the Undergraduate Senate, and the Computer Science Department for funding our journey🩵🤍

TOMORROW it's time for a fantastic career fair featuring panel discussions and a networking event. All levels of folks in STEM are welcome, whether you are a high school student, undergraduate or graduate student, or STEM professional :)

Th fair is tomorrow, Thursday July 20th on the second floor of the Medical Biomolecular Research Building (MBRB). Panel discussions are from 9am-10am and the networking event is from 10am-12pm.

In November, I had the honor of telling a crowd of over 600 donors, philanthropy groups, and notable alumni the story of why I chose UNC!

Over my four year years here at UNC, I have served as a scholarship ambassador for @uncchapelhill talking with potential donors about the impact our various scholarships have on students. In just under fours years, UNC raised over 5 billion dollars for scholarships and I’m grateful to have played my part.

This night was absolutely amazing for a number of reasons! I could give you a list of all of the prayers God answered that night. I’m still in awe thinking about it.

I’m so thankful to the Chancellor for giving me the opportunity to share my story.

In April, UNC gave me an amazing opportunity to speak to UNC’s Philanthropic Council and it’s notable donors!

It had been years since I spoke on stage and for it to be in a room filled of people who collectively donate hundreds of millions to the University…admittedly, I was very nervous. I was added to to the panel less than a week before it took place and had an even shorter amount of time to prepare.

It wasn’t until he asked me that first question that I finally calmed down. It was a question that every student at Carolina has been asked at least once. “Why’d you choose UNC?”

My answer was simple, “ it was free.”

Granted, my actual answer was ten minutes longer, but that was about the gist of it😂

Speaking on this panel opened a list of amazing opportunities for me and I’m so grateful that I was given a chance to speak!
