Sometimes I dress for a show. And sometimes I dress for the designer’s WORLD 🖤

For @elenavelez #SS27, I knew I didn’t want to just wear a pretty outfit. I wanted my look to feel like it could exist somewhere in Elena’s universe. So I went black, sheer, slightly exposed, covered in these little floral discs that almost feel like armor, with metal around my neck, exaggerated flares and sharp sunglasses. Feminine, but with something harder running through it ⛓️‍💥

Because that tension is something I find so interesting about Elena’s work. Beautiful but provocative. Feminine but aggressive. Fragile next to industrial. Her SS27 collection, SMITE, took that even further. The idea behind it was pretty heavy: questioning good versus evil, aggressor versus victim, and how violence can become “righteous” depending on who believes they’re on the right side. And you could feel that conflict in the clothes. Corsets against raw, distressed fabrics. Metal framing the body. Chainmail-like headpieces. Things that looked protective in one moment and restrictive in another. Nothing was meant to just be pretty.
That’s probably what keeps Elena Velez interesting to me ⛓️
