Last month we took part in @ukr_institute Ukrainian Film Festival at @curzon.soho with our Vsesvit shop pop-up. We brought a selection of books and publications from independent publishers in Ukraine, many gathered at the @kyiv_art_book_fair this April. Many thanks to @ukr_institute and @sydorushkina for inviting us to join this year's festival 🦢 Most books can still be found online in our shop at shop.vsesvit.uk Photographs by @anton.trfmchk

Oberih by Understructures Oberih, which in Ukrainian means “an item that protects,” is a publication that serves as a fundraising initiative for people affected by the war in Ukraine. It is a collection of stories about things that accompany us everywhere and provide solace and protection under all circumstances. Gathered from groups of friends, these stories were collected by Understructures in the form of short texts, images, voice messages, and social media posts from April to May 2022, two early months of the full-scale Russian invasion. @understructures A limited number of books are available for purchase at the Center for Architecture. Of the proceeds from sales, 90 percent will be directed toward volunteer initiatives and humanitarian aid organizations currently active in Ukraine, including some of this exhibition’s other contributors. Understructures is a collective assembled in 2020 that functions as a temporary support structure and platform for artists, activists, volunteers, and people in need. Since the beginning of 2023, Understructures—together with Ukrainian activist and volunteer Olena Samoilenko—has been collecting and delivering direct medical aid to vulnerable populations unable to evacuate in the de-occupied Southern region of Kherson. Editing by Understructures: (Daša Anosova, Timur Akhmetov, Vitya Glushchenko, Olha Lyubarska, Anna Riabova, Yuli Rudenko). Vitya Glushchenko, a founding member of the Understructures collective is currently operating at the frontline as part of a volunteer air reconnaissance unit.
