What a powerful night of podcasting with the indomitable Carol Dawson! Thank you to everyone who attended the Texas Justice Tour live show on the unsolved murder of Shelley Watkins. It was a fascinating conversation with several surprise guests. I’m honored to be part of the movement to get justice for Shelley. The episode will release next week on Justice Pending, everywhere you get podcasts.

Remember when a mountain lion was blamed for killing Christopher Whiteley near Dallas in 2020? Except it wasn’t a mountain lion?

A crime podcast called “The Unforgotten” dove into the mysterious killing. Lead investigator, Wes Fergus, asked me to join on two episodes to talk about mountain lion behavior, mountain lion status in Texas, and how mountain lions are a convenient scapegoat for a variety of ailments. He caught me in a rare mood. Sorry about the four letter words, Mom! I’m on episode 7 and 8 of “Kill Site.”

Carl Wulff had a long history of threatening to kill his wife, Dolores. It was something he would say to her face and to her relatives.

Here is a clip from Episode 1 -- Life of the Party -- in which Dolores' second-cousin, Debbie Baker, recounts and incident where Carl threatened to kill Dolores after she had moved out of their home and was contemplating divorce.

NEW TUNE TOMORROW—ANOTHER CHANCE…

*Braggy/Cringey Post Advisory 🫡

Over the past few years, I’ve had some incredible creative opportunities—mainly working with Luthier Abraham Ortega Guitars and doing sound design for a true crime podcast, called UNNATURAL CAUSES. Nearly all the music I’ve worked on in the past few years has come from one of these beautiful LAO Guitars, including the music for the podcast and a song I was able to write for my good friend KC. Her’s is a beautiful story that has profoundly inspired me. Truthfully I’m always a bit apprehensive when it comes to sharing songs that pull from the experiences of other people, but I’ve had some really sweet experiences in the past few years that have made me feel like it almost always produces a net-positive into the world. Creating the music for UNNATURAL CAUSES was one of the most complex creative pursuits of my life— in summary, the podcast investigated a tragic and horrific story about a serial killer who preyed on people living in senior living facilities in DFW, TX. My pals Charlie and Wes investigated the case and wrote about it in Texas newspaper for years until finally the killer was found and charged. Ultimately, the exposure on the story has affected change and new bills and laws could potentially be put in place that would make senior living facilities safer… I think this is something I’ve always yearned for… Hmmm— to create things that can elicit light and change and bring more goodness into the world. I don’t perform or release music as much as I’d like to, but I hope I can stay on this path and trajectory.

I’m excited to release ANOTHER CHANCE tomorrow and keep finding ways to share more tunes. *The song in this video is NOT ANOTHER CHANCE, it’s a song called THE SAME RESOLVE, and I’m playing it on my LAO Guitar.

Stay tuned, yall. ✌️💙
