I note today is the anniversary of author Brigid Brophy's birth in 1929. I must climb up my library steps and take down The Snow Ball, a magnificent, Mozartian, magical novel. I may even hum Là ci darem la mano, as I do so.

Two anniversaries caught my eye today, entirely different in tone and scope. On this date in 1660 English monarchy was restored when Charles II entered London. Three hundred years later, the Everly Brothers reached Number One with this song. You can pick which event to celebrate!

A flimsy Friday filler from a fortnight ago. I would normally be cheering the date as Herschel's discovery of the planet Uranus. It being the planet most associated with unpredictable happenings, I am a shade less enthusiastic this time!
