The Jain New Year is celebrated on the day after the festival of Diwali. The Jain New Year marks the day when Mahavira’s chief disciple, Gautama Swami, attained supreme knowledge. It also marks the beginning of the new commercial year, when merchants open new financial books. Today the ritual of Snatra Puja is performed at the temple. Jains greet each other with the words “Saal Mubarak” (Happy New Year).

Our 1s hit the road to face Loughborough 4s in what promises to be a huge clash. Last season, they edged us to the league title on head to head goals before beating us in the cup final. Tomorrow presents the perfect opportunity to make a statement, get one over on last season’s rivals and bring home another crucial 3 points.

Following a strong win in Nottingham two weeks ago, our 2s are back in action after a week off, welcoming Oxford Brookes 2s for a home fixture. Looking to build on that result and keep the momentum going, the lads will be looking to make home advantage count and pick up another big three points.

DEADLY 60 QUACK 💀 (Man vs. CARLING)

A STORY OF DAVID (Geography) VS. GOLIATH (People in Sports Societies)

After days of meal prep and strategic electrolyte consumption, it was time to take on the deadliest six pints Towers had to offer.

What followed was an honourable but uncharacteristic failure for most, with success few and far between. The exception was Thomas, whose disdain for the Towers decor was swiftly resolved. 👊

The freshers won Best Dressed as a dazzle of zebras 🦓, until Edward King popped into the six-yard box late on, looking like the Dragon Warrior. 🐼

We then headed to Trebles and Quack, where, as usual, we were blessed with queuing, loud noises and Pepto-Bismol in a cup.

Despite this, Geography are still massive and battled for the back wall of Trebs, securing a barrier at Quack. 🦆

PLAY OF THE GAMES 🏆

* Caleb and Joey looking like they might actually complete the challenge.
* Ben Hung mogging.
* Alice completing the six pints without standing.

Bootcamp w/ @ulwfc 🪖

One word to describe Quack? World Class. These troops were put to the test last night with some heavy duty drills, making sure they all truly earned their Quacktails for the evening. After braving the cold October breeze we made our way to a very busy carousel before pushing on to trebs to retake the Normandy coast (back wall) and did so efficiently. In high spirits these soldiers sang rockin all over the world like never before. I think that if our ancestors had some Status Quo instead of Vera Lynn the war would’ve been won in a few weeks. We then made it back to the motherland (Front left of Quack) and indulged in the new quack jugs which Callum seemed to really enjoy, a few ducks were caught and some questionable shapes were thrown as standard procedure. Onto next week, and as always, stay classy Lincoln 🏏
