Linden just passed a ban on all data centers!

One of New Jersey’s largest industrial hubs is saying no to Big Tech. Following months of organizing by residents and CRAN, the Linden City Council voted to ban data centers, recognizing that the few permanent jobs they create aren’t worth the strain on our electricity, water, environment, and quality of life.

Thank you to Mayor Derek Armstead, the Linden City Council, the residents who fought to make this happen, and especially @electbriannaarmstead who brought all the stakeholders together to make sure this happened.

If a city built on industry can say no to data centers, the rest of New Jersey can too.

Now it’s time for Trenton to listen. We need a statewide moratorium on AI data centers to protect every community, not just those that have passed local bans.

Last week, we joined over 300 community members from Kenilworth, Roselle, and Union at UCRAC’s Town Hall about the CoreWeave data center.

Attendees heard from Assemblyman Ed Rodriguez (LD 20), learned more about the data center in a presentation from UCRAC, and how to get engaged at the local level by voting and recalling the Kenilworth Council.

Thank you to all who attended and stay tuned for next steps!

Great connecting with UCRAC over pizza at our stuffing social as we prepare for our upcoming Kenilworth Town Hall. It was a great evening together as a community and the time spent has left an impact on me. Thank you for everyone who came to help and volunteered their afternoon.

We look forward to informing Union County residents about the proposed AI data center, hearing community concerns, and answering questions together.

Stay tuned for Town Hall details!

I’m so happy to say that our first month successfully resulted in donations to nonprofits! I’m so excited to release more, and highlight more causes❤️ Although it may not be millions, it’s great to find more interactive ways to bring aid to these causes. Thank you all, more to come. Collections still available currently, link in “SHOP🔗” highlight!

This month, every purchase from the designs I created for the no data center collection helps @unioncountyrac fight a 250 MW AI data center. Coreweave is fighting to build this massive facility in a 2 sq mile town with just 8,000 residents. Here’s a fun way to support residents fight to preserve their small town. <3 Profits from each purchase are donated to UCRAC directly.

All across the United States, corporations are pushing these ai data centers onto communities. We have seen the affects they have had on the people who live near them. We must stop them from continuing to do this.

I will continue to do my small part in fighting against these data centers. I want children in the US to have bright futures and leave them an earth we cared for.

Please help in any way you can. I would be satisfied if your takeaway from this was to go learn more about data centers. Thank you.

🔗1st is to the Union County Residents Alliance Coalition @unioncountyrac. A group of concerned residents dedicated to sharing information about every step of the data centers being built.

🔗2nd is a collection created by @jordanpanno. The proceeds of which go towards our cause.
