We still need transparency and justice for Kohen Wiley!

Repost from @beingblackislit: (Kohen Wiley was just one year old when a police officer opened fire into the car where his mother held him outside a Walmart in Senatobia, Mississippi. His mother says she lifted him up to show officers there was a baby inside before the shots were fired.

124 days later, his life must not become another forgotten headline. His family deserves answers, transparency and accountability.)

@unitedamerikkka: A Jacksonville educator reflects on her days of being in the classroom and teaching her students Black history.

Nadine Ebri recently shared a video to X showing her students from 2018 singing the Black National Anthem, which many didn’t know before she taught them.

“It really impacted people and I had people writing me saying.. you know, man, this video moved me to tears,” she said.

Ebri says she taught her students the song because it has Jacksonville roots.

It was written and composed by James Weldon Johnson and J. Rosamond Johnson in the early 1900’s.

Ebri says it was more of the reason to tech her students the lyrics.

“Just seeing students singing a song of triumph and they seem so happy and just not feeling defeated during Black History Month but feeling empowered,” said Ebri.

“I know it’s so important to teach about slavery, but we also have to teach what happened before that and how to move forward as well,” she said.

Ebri says she keeps in touch with a lot of the students in the video.

IT’S AN AMAZING FEELING when the CEO of one of the nation’s largest education platforms is personally promoting YOUR products to her students! 🙌🏾📚🎬

This year’s STEAM Expo was truly an incredible experience! Seeing my new book, TJ’s Toolbox, and my award-winning documentary, Working With The Hands, being introduced to the next generation of students reminds me why I do this work.

It’s bigger than selling books and documentaries. It’s about inspiring our youth, teaching OUR STORY, bringing back the trades, and showing the next generation the power of entrepreneurship and ownership!

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the mission!
