For years now my mom @julieelliswms has been working on a passion project. It’s something that she has invested countless hours into, working relentlessly to have her vision come to life. Some of her close friends knew about this but she wasn’t ready to share it with the world until it was time. As they say; all good things come to those who wait… well, I’m pleased to say the wait is over!

I present to you Bella Joins the Service! A meticulously crafted childrens book about myself and my beloved Bella da Dawg.

Wrtten by my mom with a little help from Bella and myself :)

This true story told from Bella’s point of view explains the way she evolved from a wonderful companion to so much more, a life changing service dog.

As many of you know, my connection to Bell was as close as it gets. She was with me through the incredibly difficult transition from a college graduate to a quadriplegic. She covered me in licks when I was down and brought me her ball when I needed a distraction. She provided comfort and confidence which led me to playing wheelchair rugby, traveling, and ultimately finding a fulfilling life again.

Her story, told in this beautifully written and illustrated book, explains what it was like on that day I didn’t return from my routine bike ride. The emotions she felt when she realized our life would be different and the steps she took to do her part by becoming more than just a dog.

I can’t tell you how often I was asked by children why Bella was wearing a vest.

“What does she do for you?” kids would ask is awe when they met her casually strolling through the airport and boarding planes with me.

Bella Joins the Service answers this question and so many more.

Today we will be ending a long and painful chapter of our journey.

Tomorrow is a new day and a new beginning. I don’t know what is coming. But I do know that I have the best natural healing medicine available and his name is Paulie Walnuts.

Up up and away ✈️ the goodest travel boy

Mom has a lot of anxiety traveling - especially now with covid. Luckily I am able to travel with mom as her emotional support animal.
