Standing with working people. ✊ I’m honored to earn the endorsements of a powerful coalition of labor unions representing hundreds of thousands of workers across our region. Together, we’re building a stronger future rooted in good-paying jobs, workers’ rights, dignity, and opportunity for all. When working people stand together, we can make real change happen.

There’s been a lot of noise in this race lately, including people calling us “special interests.” Our real “special interests”? Nurses, teachers, hotel workers, firefighters. Working families. YOU. 💙 You deserve NEW voices, not the same folks who’ve held office for 50+ years combined gaining money, power, and influence off our backs. 🗳️ Juan Muñoz-Guevara – City Council 🗳️ Mishaun Watkins – City Council 🗳️ Emiliano Arellano – City Council 🗳️ Martina Rodríguez – LUSD School Board Nobody handed us anything. We earned it, at your door. Your ballot is in your mailbox. Vote for all four of us by Nov. 3. We deserve better! ¡Merecemos algo mejor! 📖 betterlynwood.s.gy/voterguide #BetterLynwood #Lynwood #LynwoodCityCouncil #vote2026

🚨CAUTION ON THE RUNWAY! Tonight, @victoriassecret puts on its biggest show of the year. But behind the lights: LA labor and women’s rights groups have shown up outside Sony Studios to warn all women involved in the show: Victoria’s Secret has a history of workplace violence against women. CEO @mssuper2u says the new VS is “absolutely focused on making women’s lives better,” but a year after garment worker Pushpalatha’s death in Victoria’s Secret’s supply chain, the brand has not yet signed an agreement to protect workers. #ViolenceOutOfFashion #NoMoreSecrets

🚨HAPPENING NOW from outside the @victoriassecret Fashion Show in Los Angeles. As the show begins, the LA labor movement is here to warn workers at the event that Victoria’s Secret has a troubling history of gender-based violence at work. A garment worker in Sri Lanka, Pushpalatha, died after witnesses reported she was denied medical leave at a @brandixlanka factory making Victoria’s Secret products. When they spoke up, Pushpalatha’s family, coworkers and union organizers faced intimidation and threats of violence. A year later, we are still fighting for justice. #ViolenceOutOfFashion #NoMoreSecrets

Tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 18th at 3pm, we will join @utlanow , @unitehere11 @garmentworkercenter @globallaborjustice and others at the @victoriassecret fashion show to demand justice for a fallen worker. When Victoria’s Secret announced that its annual fashion show would be moving to Los Angeles on October 18th, the company promised a grand spectacle - calling it “the biggest night in fashion and entertainment,” full of glamour and big-name celebrities to walk the runway. But there is someone they haven’t named: Paramasivam Pushpalatha. Pushpalatha was a 44-year-old mother of three and a garment worker who made clothing and lingerie for Victoria’s Secret at a factory owned by a supplier called Brandix in Sri Lanka. She died a preventable death nearly a year ago after several coworkers reported that a Brandix supervisor denied her leave when she fell ill on the job. She went into work as on any regular day, but by the end of her shift, she had collapsed. She died that same night. She had worked at Brandix, in Victoria’s Secret’s supply chain, for over a decade. In the months since her tragic death, other workers at Brandix, Pushpalatha’s family members, and union organizers with the Commercial and Industrial Workers’ Union (CIWU-Sri Lanka) launched the Justice for Pushpa campaign with support from @asia_floorwage and @globallaborjustice. They have reported threats and intimidation - including threats of rape and murder - for demanding accountability and speaking up about Pushpalatha. We have a simple message for Victoria’s Secret: It’s not enough to promise style and glamour to your customers. Victoria Secret, you must commit to the safety and dignity of the women workers in your supply chain who make your brand possible. No worker should have to work while sick, and all workers should be free to organize and speak out without fear of violence! Please join us on Sunday at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show to demand justice for Pushpalatha and workers across their supply chain! @victoriassecret

BREAKING NEWS RE: Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. In response to @victoriassecret’s recent inaction and poor track record on gender-based violence and harassment, from the factory floor in Sri Lanka to the runway in the US, Los Angeles’ labor community will be at Sunday's fashion show to caution Victoria’s Secret’s retail and fashion show workers, and ensure they know their rights. We also remind Victoria’s Secret that violence and harassment – including sexual harassment – is unacceptable, and is against the law in California.
