Unlikely Local is our ode to the traveler who arrives as a visitor and leaves feeling like part of the neighborhood. Rooted in our local-first ethos, Unlikely Local celebrates the magic that happens when community and curiosity meet. It’s for the guests who slow down, say hello, support the creatives around them, and discover the rhythms that make our corner of the world feel like home.

At The Hotel Palms, we believe in honoring our community before anything else — and Unlikely Local is how we invite you into that story. Come as you are, explore with intention, and leave with a piece of the local spirit stitched into your stay.

Dear Jamie,
For the past 7 years or so I have been the most unlikely local, since I live 1.5 hr away, still @hotelpalms has been like a second home. Getting a fun coffee beverage from you @showpigeoncoffee is a highlight of every visit. You always go out of your way to make me something safe for my allergies. Your recent announcement about closing show pigeon coffee to move on to the next chapter is bittersweet. I’m happy for you but also sad that I will no longer see your smiling face behind the coffee bar. Whoever takes up that role will have big shoes to fill. Stoked to have so many great memories of sipping crafted coffees and doodling in my art journal. Thank you Jamie for all the well caffeinated years. Fair winds and following seas,
Captain Townes

“A love letter to Atlantic Beach.
Observing and absorbing the summer time and Atlantic beach’s deep history of a seaside beach town. Atlantic ocean beaches that bookend the gap between old America and Europe has always intrigued me. From the fine sand, trees, flowers and salinity of the sea that is different than the saltier Pacific and volcanic terrain and history that I know.”
