Creating joyful & inclusive spaces in mountain sports by breaking down barriers & empowering BIPOC & QTPOC to learn, lead, and thrive in the outdoors

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

1:30pm UPDATE:
Zero Gravity lost water today due to the ongoing road work project and unfortunately has to close the Beer Hall tonight. We've RESCHEDULED this event to next Wed 11/9, same time/scenario. Apologies for the inconvenience.
----
Can we buy you a drink?
... well, if you're a season passholder, that is ... Join us tonight on Burlington's South End at @zerogravitybeerhall and we just may! The first 100 season passholders to check in with BV staff after 4pm (by raw bar / game room) get their 1st drink on us - whether beer, non alcoholic @rescueclubbeer or a soft drink.

If you've joined us at the mountain for one of our Lobster Boils, the winter ZG Apres Work School Bus or just enjoyed a Spillway IPA - which supports the incredible work of our dear friends at @unlikelyriders - you already know we like to get down with the fine folks at @zerogravitybeer ! But this time, we're flipping the script to party down at their spot and we'd love to see you!

More deets on tonight's event via link in bio.

HELLOOOOOO FEBRUARY 💌

The first month of 2023 is over, which means you only have two and a half months left to beat your friend's vertical and ski day count. We hope February will bring us lots of snow days, more subscribers, a particularly cute Valentine, and let's add more powder to this list for good measure. 💙

This month also marks the start of Black History Month, and we would like to use this opportunity to highlight @unlikelyriders. This is a Vermont BIPOC non-profit organization, mobilizing our communities to find healing with the mountains while claiming space in the snow sports industry and culture. You can support @unlikelyriders programs to help reduce and eliminate barriers within our Vermont snowsports. There are a multitude of things that your donation will support, from trail access and lift tickets to educational opportunities and winter gear. Help @unlikelyriders reach their goal of $7,500 - they only need $962 more dollars! 💌

📣 Our latest snow report for Wednesday, February 1st is now live at www.unofficialokemo.com {link in bio}.

Get automatic semi-daily snow reports delivered to your inbox by subscribing today. Join our ~super cool~ community!

When your rugby mate spots your face in the Queen City... and it ends up on the team chat. 😳🤪

Never imagined that hoping to see more people represented like oneself in the outdoor industry actually meant one's own face.

The Juneteenth Challenge is under 2 weeks away! Concept2 will be donating $19,000 to charity to mark Juneteenth. For every person signed up from the home page of their logbook, and does at least 1900m on June 19, we will donate an extra $2, up to a maximum total amount of $38,000. Note: BikeErg meters count for half the distance when applied to the challenge. The 3 organizations we are supporting are @unlikelyriders , @eyekonzsports and @tankproof Head to the link in our bio to learn more!

It’s time to show your PRIDE and celebrate love in the Rainbow Mountain State ✨

Happy Pride Month my dear friends!!! Our beautiful state is partying in the name of love and hosting Pride events in every region. From town-wide parades to community queer proms, there’s something for everyone this Pride Month!

☀️ I took these videos on Saturday at my neighborhood’s second Essex Pride. It was an incredible afternoon of parades, performances, dance parties, and pure joy. Families from all walks of life gathered in our local park to support our queer community. I’m still smiling just thinking about all the love in the air!

The best thing about most Pride events is they’re family friendly. My favorite part of Essex Pride was Drag Storytime with @katnisseverqueervt and @emojinightmare. Our fabulous neighbors taught about finding our sparkle and spreading kindness… lessons we all need. I even overheard a little girl and her mom discuss what Pride means to them. They agreed it’s just about celebrating love. Sounded pretty good to me!

Check out these upcoming Pride celebrations with your family:

🩷 St. Albans Pride Weekend (6/7)
❤️ Vergennes Pride (6/8)
🧡 Barre Pride (6/8)
💛 Brattleboro Pride Potluck (6/8)
💚 Rutland Pride Festival (6/22)
🩵 Newport/NEK Pride (6/23)
💙 Bethel PrideFest (6/29)
💜 Morrisville Lamoille Pride (6/29)
🖤 Springfield Rainbowpalooza (6/29)
🤎 Bellows Falls Pride (6/29)
🩶 Bennington Pride (6/30)

Don’t forget to stop by the Amtrak Pride Whistlestop Tour this Saturday 6/8. All Amtrak stations from St. Albans through White River Junction and down to Brattleboro will become Pride dance parties. Greet the Vermonter train as it travels the state!

💫 Drop a comment to spread the word about other events. Then COME ON OUT and celebrate Pride this month! Love is love is love!

We want to thank @zahanbillimoria for visiting Vermont again and coming into our store for our first in-store event since the pandemic shutdown. We watched his incredible film of evaluating risk in big mountain skiing called Solving for Z, and then the attendees were able to ask Z questions. The Q&A portion was robust, enlightening, and stemmed from such sincere honesty that everyone walked away knowing a bit of Z's inner thoughts.
.
We couldn't have asked for a better kickoff to in-store event programming. Thank you, Z, and for everyone who attended!

Winter batch dropping Tuesday at 4pm! 50% of small batch painting sales this week will go towards @unlikelyriders — if you haven’t heard of them, they are an amazing organization dedicated to supporting BIPOC vermonters on snow and in the outdoors.

They offer a gear closet, lift tickets, community events, lessons, instructor training, and leadership/mentorship opportunities. This year they plan to host educational programs like wilderness first aid, avalanche training, and ski instructor training, as well as their monthly community ski and ride days, no cost lessons, and of course provide gear to folks from their winter gear closet.

Unlikely Riders is an invaluable local organization so even if you don’t buy a painting this week please consider donating directly! (link in my bio!) ❄️🎿

✨🌟CULTURE SHIFTERS

Witnessing the energy, stoke and absolute JOY that everyone brought while holding space for each other and being unafraid to dive into some deep conversations

Coming together with other leaders of grassroots orgs and nonprofits to talk about the work we’re doing to make the outdoors more accessible and welcoming for BIPOC folks & how we can support each other

Shredding around one of THE most fun mountains I’ve ever ridden. From greens with first/second timers to hot laps with current and seasoned pros.

Dancing. Lots of it.
Cold plunging in a giant Yeti cooler.
The funniest Uno rules I have ever played by.

My heart has been cracked open in the best way. Thank you snowboarding.
Thank you JBC, we definitely had as much fun as possible. Can’t wait until next time❤️

Thank you @selema @zebpowelll @burton @burtonsnowboards @redbullusa @fattire @aspensnowmass @yeti @ikonpass @limelighthotel for the invite and for your steadfast support in making snowboarding diverse, inclusive, and empowering.

The event may be over, but it’s just the start of something beautiful we are building and growing together! 🌱
