When your linesister @classy1913 pops up in town and says,
“I have an extra ticket to #HBCUAwareFest… do you want to go?”

Heck yeah! I pulled out a gown to show off the bionic leg, found some Gucci flats, and was on my way. 💃🏽 I have the best LS ever!!!😘

Baby let me tell you… a TIME was had!
The Casino Royale theme was EVERYTHING girls dancing in glasses, crap and roulette tables, the best DJ @djeclazz hosted by Anthony Anderson and Rocsi, seeing the legend Magic Johnson, comedians, meeting several HBCU presidents and leaders and ending the night with the amazing voice of Wyclef Jean.

And the best part was hanging with my Skegee sisters Chelsea, Misty, and Yvette. ❤️
Special shout out to Yvette for being such a gracious host you made the night even more special.

I mean… what a night.
The event was intimate, grown, and sexy… just how we like it. ✨🎲🍷

From limiting beliefs and feelings of doom and gloom leading up to this trip to a space of believing, knowing and proving that I can do really, really, really hard things!!

My journey to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in 8 very long, but impactful days. Uhuru peak - 19,341 ft.

Rainforest to arctic. Clouds, Rain, snow, fog/mist, wind gusts and a teeny bit of sun on the day of summit. Every emotion possible, but lots of tears! Joyful tears, frustrated tears, celebratory tears, terrified tears and just tears for the sake of tears.

My first impression of the journey…
1. If you’re a hiker and looking for a challenge, this might be for you. The hike itself, I’ll give 5 of 10 in terms of difficulty. Completely doable.
2. The altitude takes it to 8 of 10 in terms of difficultly. I mean… who doesn’t operate at peak performance at 19K+ feet.
3. The conditions bumped it up to 13/10 in terms of difficulty, but that will take a little more explaining!

Sixteen “clients” from various parts of the world with a collective purpose but definitely individual journeys to get to the summit.

The emotions are indescribable. The feeling of appreciation was immense . 59 people there to support us from guides to cooks to porters (carry equipment and larger bags, prepare camp, hold your hand, etc). Almost 4:1

At one point, I thought I was getting special treatment because the support was so ON POINT. I mean…. I was the ONLY black woman surrounded by a group of African Princes!! 🤷🏽‍♀️ It didn’t take long to realize that it wasn’t just me and that everyone was being spoiled and cared for by these amazing souls. That’s what they do. That’s who they are.

It was (and is) hard for me to imagine what it takes to SEE so many people as individuals and care for their needs separately, but so completely. More on that later.

Come back for a few more randoms over the next few days. 🥰
