Six of my former SWCC students are now at UNT, and all six are singing in Jazz Singers this semester under the direction of Katelyn Robinson. 🥹

Seeing them today and realizing just how far they’ve come filled me with a kind of pride that’s hard to put into words. These are the moments that remind me exactly why I became a teacher.

Watching your students grow, take chances, and keep becoming more than they ever imagined they could be… there’s really nothing like it. ❤️

One of the coolest parts of studying at UNT is that so many people who work here are musically gifted! One of those talented individuals is our Jazz Studies Administrative Coordinator, Michael Martin! Not only does he kick butt when it comes to solving scheduling problems and dealing with all sorts of other administrative things, but he’s also a great singer!

We were singing in the stairwell when Michael popped by. When we asked him to sing with us he jumped in without hesitation! We hope you enjoy this brief five part snippet of Darmon Meader’s arrangement of the Caprice Fox Tune, Silence of Time. We absolutely love this piece of music and it felt like a fitting selection to sing with Michael!
