Club Success Story of the Year - Women’s Football ⚽️

UoEWFC delivered its first ever Spotlight Fixture against Exeter City Women at St James Park. This event was the result of months of planning, with regular collaboration with the AU and Exeter City from October to its delivery in May.

To support this, the club hosted a primary school girls’ football tournament the week prior, engaging 90 girls from 5 schools - many experiencing football for the first time. Exeter City attended & advertised the Spotlight Fixture, strengthening community engagement.

This has established a lasting partnership between Exeter University and Exeter City Women, with continued collaboration across events such as the club’s end-of-season sport carousel. It represents a significant step in developing a clear women’s football pathway from grassroots to elite level.

This achievement not only builds on years of ambition within the club but will also enhance recruitment, visibility, and long-term growth, making it a truly outstanding success story.

Club Captain of the Year - Izzy Smith, Women’s Football

Izzy Smith led the club through a very successful year, winning the BUCS Committee Excellence award & AU Sustainability League.

She secured HPP S&C sessions, annual fund to help the Devs 4th BUCS team, 3 new sponsors, a new injury scheme, & assisted setup of AU non-binary PUAP.

During the year she organised 10 friendlies for the devs, sport swaps with 4 sports, record money raised for 6+ charities, International Women’s Day tournament for female societies, first ever Term 3 in-house tournament to increase participation, a first ever futsal Spotlight game & applied for a second Sunday league team.

Izzy worked on external links, creating the club’s first ever Football Spotlight at St James Park vs Exeter City Women, working with Her Game Too, Xpression FM as well as Student Sport's media, alongside hosting a primary school tournament for 90+ girls and new partnerships with Exeter City Community Trust/Exeter College.
These achievements prove Izzy’s exceptional leadership, dedication, & long-term impact.
