I wanted this shot to convey how weary my soul is.
I never wanted to write this. Nobody does I'd imagine. Grief is not something we ever want to confront head on. It hurts; cuts you right to the quick. Damn does this hurt.
My Mother is dying. It is as simple and as terrible as that. She has been in a nursing home for a couple of years, as her health was slowly getting worse. The day after Christmas he went to the hospital with an infection and some internal bleeding. Since she has and then the hospital she has gotten rapidly worse her infection that she initially had cleared up but then she contracted MRSA which moved into her bloodstream. Her mild dementia worsened so fast that as of now, she does not appear to recognize or be able to communicate with anyone. When she was brought in, she refused to eat to the point and could not swallow to eat or drink without danger of aspirating or choking. She had an IV to receive basic minimal nutrition. It almost immediately began to fail. In an ever spiraling series of one bad thing after another, all of these things contributed to her body not being able to make clotting factors for her blood. To sum up: she is scared, confused, in pain and slowly starving to death with a staph infection in her blood and she will probably bleed to death if they try to put in a line to feed her.
The experts in this have told be in polite, compassionate terms that my mother's body is failing her; that it is only a matter of time and her comfort level, and that she is so medically fragile that when she codes (compassionate speak for "dies") that trying to keep her alive would be a cruelty. I cannot see my mother suffer any more.
If you know my mother, if you want to see her one last time then you know me. Call me and we'll set up a visit (they are only allowing one visitor every 24 hours) if you don't have my phone number, DM me and we will go from there. If I sound clinical, it's just that this is the most succinct way to reach the most people I can as quickly as I can. And I just can't lose control. My Mother is dying. What else can I do? Thank you for listening.
Goodnight.

"If they say
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In a sky of a million stars
It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone's time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
We're quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do..."
