COMMUNAL COLLAGE: An Invitation to Curiosity Over Control 🔗 Link in profile Led by Dana McClure @danamcclure Saturday, Sept 26th | 3–6pm Limited to 12 Participants Beverages & Light Fare Served $175 Overview: Join us for an afternoon of collaborative painting and collage, where the group builds a series of shared pieces by responding to one another’s marks and choices. This is a workshop about letting go — leading with intuition over intention, and curiosity over control. All levels of experience are welcome. Details: We’ll begin by loosening up — assembling a collection of collage elements that draw your attention – an activity designed to quiet the inner critic and get everyone working from instinct rather than plan. From there, the group will begin working on separate pieces with the same basic compositional structure. Each piece will move around the table. You’ll add a mark, a cut shape, a color decision — then pass it along and receive someone else’s in return. The goal isn’t to control the outcome, but to notice what happens when you respond to what’s already there: a color that suggests a shape, a line that asks to be extended, a gap that wants to be filled. As the pieces evolve, we’ll introduce collage elements — cut paper, painted textures, photographic scraps — layering and combining materials as a group to build depth and surprise into each composition. We’ll end with a relaxed group conversation, looking at the finished pieces together and reflecting on what it felt like to make something collectively — where control had to be released, and where intuition took over. This workshop is an invitation to right-brain, non-linear thinking: an antidote to anxiety, and a return to playfulness and joy through making. “By the fourth day I was there, asking questions about what is happening to my voice and what am I meant to do next and how can I heal, I got this message that said 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙡𝙡 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙞𝙜𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙖𝙮. And it was so confusing because at that time I was trying to make the biggest solo record of my life. September 12th. We return to the dance floor with DJ aGa aGa’s is a dancer and a DJ. Her love for dance goes beyond, it's a therapeutic experience that allows her to release and be fully present. By tapping into her personal dance journey, she creates music journey that take listeners on a deep emotional adventure. Blending various music styles rooted in tribal and organic sounds, a little wild, a little healing. aGa's DJ journey began as a techno enthusiast and co-founder of Techno Therapy—a collective dedicated to hosting electronic music events in the Hudson Valley. However, her heart ultimately led her to the conscious dance scene and the realm of Ecstatic Dance DJing. Her story reminded us that the unexpected turns in our lives aren’t necessarily something to overcome. Stone Dock Golf Course: A Hudson Valley Gem 🏌🏻⛳️ Sometimes you discover a place because you are looking for something completely different. That was my experience at Stone Dock Golf Course in High Falls, New York. I did not play golf. I came to explore the property with my camera and binoculars, and I ended up identifying 33 bird species on my first visit. For a bird photographer, that was an impressive introduction. Set along the Rondout Creek, Stone Dock is a beautiful, peaceful nine hole course with a wonderful sense of history and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Owners Jennifer and Francis O’Donnell have embraced environmental stewardship, with sustainable landscaping, soil health, native plantings and efforts to support biodiversity. The course itself is quiet and intimate, which I imagine is a big plus for golfers, and the pricing is remarkably reasonable compared with larger golf destinations. But what made my visit truly special were Jennifer and Francis. They were incredibly kind and welcoming. In fact, my visit even turned into dinner with Jen and her adorable dog, Bebop. Those unexpected experiences are what travel is all about. I also learned that overnight camping is available, making Stone Dock a wonderful base for exploring the Hudson Valley. Contact them directly for current camping information. The café is currently closed and is no longer being advertised, so this is not a food review. Instead, it is a recommendation to slow down, explore, and discover Stone Dock for yourself. I came looking for birds.
