The credit goes to those who push forward each day in finding solutions to thier situations. That do this with dignity and grace. Our unhoused neighbors who courageously wake up everyday and put one foot in front of the other regardless of thier struggles. We don't do what we do with a since that we know the solution. We do not impose our beliefs about how we think things should be. Instead, we are a group that is led by those most important to help them reach whatever goals it is they may have for thier living spaces. We are @urbanparkcleanup #community #compassion

After a long day of work, I logged onto the Oakland Compassion Project group board on #NextDoor and found the most amazing note from Brenda, an #OCP #volunteer who’s been with us since day one, who was OCPs first administrative manager, and who singlehandedly built the OCP database. She might be my #aunt but she’s also one of my best friends and my number one #cheerleader!

“To each volunteer, donor, collaborator and anyone else who gave to this wonderful project, I just would like to say that because of you all.....change in someone’s life has occurred. It may just be a grain of sand to you but it could mean the entire beach to someone else and sometimes miracles are just good people with kind hearts, So, I just want to say thank you to each and every one of you, know that you are truly appreciated and you are making a difference.”

Hello friends, family and neighbors, the Oakland Compassion Project is looking for a volunteer social media ambassador! This person would ideally be proficient with Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok and, best case scenario, Hootsuite. This volunteer would be responsible for posting updates and disseminating information in addition to creating and editing content. This would be an ideal opportunity for a high school student looking to earn community service credits or in need of a letter of recommendation. No community contact is required for those Covid-contentious. I estimate it would require between 2-5 hours/week. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in or you know someone who might be, please DM me here. 💛🙏🏼

Dear friends, family, neighbors and colleagues,

We’re at it again, raising funds to support our community and those that work so hard to make it a better place for everyone. In my work with the Oakland Compassion Project, I have had the absolute privilege of working alongside many of Oakland’s most dedicated leaders, whether they be from the city or local nonprofits.

One of these leaders, whose name I’m intentionally withholding for privacy concerns, was involved in an auto accident recently and their car was sadly totaled. Without the vehicle, this leader cannot perform their weekly community services, services many unhoused neighbors rely on!

As a community leader, like many of us, this individual puts a lot of their own money into their community Project! As a result, they are now short on funds to cover the $1k insurance deductible to repair the vehicle. If you can spare any amount of money, no donation is too small, to help this leader get back to doing what they do best, community service, your generosity would be greatly appreciated!

Please remember, your donation will of course assist the individual but will also assist the hundreds of unhoused neighbors that this individual supports. 💛🙏🏼

Click the link in my bio to donate!
