A5 wagyu carpaccio

Urban Farmer, located inside The Logan hotel overlooking Philadelphia’s Logan Square, offers a modern take on the American steakhouse. The restaurant combines rustic farmhouse-inspired décor with an upscale dining atmosphere, featuring warm lighting, folk-art accents, and displays of house-made pickles and preserves. Opened in 2015, it occupies a space formerly associated with The Fountain, a celebrated fine-dining restaurant at the former Four Seasons hotel.

The menu emphasizes locally sourced ingredients, heritage-bred beef, and straightforward preparations. Steaks are a central attraction, with grass-fed, corn-finished, and dry-aged cuts offering different flavors and textures. Other options include seafood, house-made charcuterie, artisanal cheeses, seasonal vegetables, and comfort-food favorites. The restaurant also serves breakfast, weekend brunch, and lunch, making it a versatile destination throughout the day.

Urban Farmer’s appeal lies in its combination of regional ingredients, contemporary steakhouse cooking, and a relaxed atmosphere. Its location along Benjamin Franklin Parkway, near the Swann Memorial Fountain and Philadelphia’s major cultural institutions, makes it a convenient stop after a day exploring the city’s museums and architecture. The overall experience is polished without being overly formal, although the prices reflect its upscale hotel setting.

We went to Philly for a family getaway - but I’m not going to lie, the FOOD was one of my favourite parts 😂

After eating our way around the city, these were some of our favourite stops as a family of four 👇

🍳 Urban Farmer at The Logan - such a lovely breakfast and the perfect start to our stay

🍦 Franklin Fountain - because no Philly trip is complete without ice cream here

🥩 Oh Brother - a Philly cheesesteak was obviously happening

🍝 Osteria Ama Philly - delicious Italian and a great family dinner

🥐 Parc, Rittenhouse Square - beautiful setting, lovely food and such a Philly experience

🌿 Harper’s Garden - a fun, relaxed spot that worked really well with the kids

🥞 Reading Terminal Market - crepes, smoothies and SO many things we wanted to try (great for fresh fruit for snacks too!)

🔥 Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ - the kids loved the interactive part of cooking at the table

☕ Sabrina’s Cafe - another great brunch stop (and the iced coffee was so good!)

And now I’m already wondering what we missed…because apparently one trip to Philly is not enough when there’s this much good food 😂

Save this for your next Philadelphia trip and send it to the person you’re going with so they can start planning the food itinerary 👀

Have you got a Philly favourite we need to try next? Let me know in the comments below! 👇
