Meet Victoria’s Cottage — a 1920s charmer brought back to life with care, keeping all the features that make these homes so special.

The colours? Playful, charming, and perfect for highlighting the cottage’s traditional details. Proof that the right exterior paint can completely transform a home’s energy. Same cottage. Totally new vibe.

Safe to say... we love a cottage comeback 🤍

Take a look at this fantastic transformation of a classic early-1900s Asymmetrical Queenslander.
We’ve managed to interview the people behind this to get some background on both the project and what they’re doing to help others, especially when it comes time to realise the full potential of a home.
This beautiful transformation is known as the ‘Callaghan Project’ (in Ipswich), by ‘Urban Uplift’.
QH: Good morning, Roger & Victoria! You transformed this great old house into a show-home – was that for yourselves or for clients?
Victoria: This one was for clients. The house needed a lot of love before going to market.
We guided them through the whole process - from strategic design and development approvals through to staging, photography, and ultimately a successful sale.
QH: I notice there has been not only been interior and exterior house transformation, but even the gardens?
Roger: Yes, the idea was to maximise the appeal of all aspects of the property, and showcase the character, beauty, and craftsmanship of the original house.
QH: I also notice various pops of green, particularly in the bathrooms - is that a favourite technique?
Victoria: Absolutely! When renovating for sale, we aim for light and neutral without being boring. Greens work well with character houses, providing a calm and classic appearance.
QH: and you are the team behind ‘Urban Uplift’, what is that about? And how did it come about?
Roger: Urban Uplift specialises in strategic updates that give the highest ROI, while respecting and elevating a property’s unique character.
It actually started from our own experience and love of design and renovation projects. It quickly turned into something bigger - helping sellers unlock the full potential of their homes before listing, so they can achieve the best results.
QH: and this Callaghan Project project was a clear example of that?
Victoria: Absolutely - this project is a perfect example. We loved guiding them through the full transformation, from early strategy to the final staging and photography. It allowed the agent we selected to present the property at its absolute best and secure a standout result for the client.
QH: Love it!
