Only 4 hours left of the Rhody Athletics Challenge! We’ve raised 93% of our $28,000 goal, but still need the last few donors to push us over the finish line. The money raised today will go directly towards getting new sets of sails for our fleet of 18 FJs.

Siobhan Richards ’22 reminds us that with strength, patience, and maybe a few detours, you can land your dream job too.

Graduating with a triple major in journalism, public relations, and sports media, Siobhan worked hard in her previous positions before landing a career in professional women’s soccer. What started with a double major in public relations and history set her out on the path to discovering her love for sports media. Not only was she on top of her studies, Siobhan was also very involved in the PRSSA, the Harrington Social Media Agency, the Cigar, a sorority, and even URI club sports.

After graduation, Siobhan knew she wanted to work in sports public relations, but it wasn’t until Boston announced their new National Women’s Soccer League in 2023 that she could see her dream within arms reach. She joined the next year as one of the earliest employees.

“Your first job probably won’t be your dream job, and that’s okay” Siobhan advises, and to accept opportunities that would broaden your horizons rather than strengthening something you already know.
