Creating anything successful in life often requires collaboration. When putting the finishing touches on the Documenatry US vs THEM, we knew we had to call upon Tim Walsh for his expertise and ear for the audio. Tim an accomplished musician and sound engineer is no stranger to lending his talents to films and the stage. Www.usthemfilm.com

Presenting a new solo album by Patrick Manian, titled Cranky. Link in bio.

Here is his screed about it:

I’ve been heart-warmed to get some incredible feedback on this record. My favorite part is that everyone’s gravitated toward different songs. A few mini-genres have emerged. A mini-run like Peace & Quiet → Lost My Way → Testaverde — I’ll call “Ego Crisis.” Or All Those Years Ago → Old Rust → Ride My Steed — let’s call that “Dive Bar Last Call.”

I feel like I needed to clean the pipes. To finally wear some fancy dress shirts that have been hanging in the closet too long — even if there’s no occasion: no show, no band, no video, no marketing campaign. In fact, I increasingly feel that music requiring video makes no goddamn sense. At least not in this case.

Put the music on a stereo or headphones and just listen. What’s so hard about that? No videos, no dopamine drip. Just sound. It’s rare these days — even for me. But that’s the kind of album I tried to make: one worth listening to, not just now, but when we’re all holograms.

I’ve started to notice that most music (life?) benefits from imperfection — flubs, odd timing, a slightly flat note. That thing you “always hear”? It might be the thing that makes it better.

We’ve reached an age where perfection is possible — and it sucks. It’s impressive at first, but I find it boring, predictable, socially acceptable FIAT Dross.

Anyway, I mostly record (and started recording) to harmonize with myself. Take that however you will.

There are many people to thank for this coming to be:
@andrewwhodrums (drummer for more projects than I can find) for playing the drums on all the songs and engineering machinations out in the high desert.
@joeulmermusic (@rannpage drummer) for mixing the city ones with proper super fund slime.
@urrduhdur for mixing the country ones with proper twang.
@cyberattack_world for Peace and Quiet picking.
@manianj for B3 magicals
@jimbo.norman for laying down many good bass takes on Lost My Way.
@hannahgentiles for making my photo likeness crisp.
