Now available to pre-order at EsperLuxe, link in bio to learn more. 🔗 It’s not often that we get to welcome an all-new collection from URWERK! The beginning of the next chapter of the brand, co-founders Martin Frei and Felix Baumgartner have entered the quantum realm, moving beyond the boundaries of the signature satellite hour complication. This is the UR-300 Time Quantum. At its center, two perpendicular hour modules form a T-shaped configuration, carrying four rotating, three-sided hour prisms that collectively display all 12 hours. When the minute hand reaches the end of its scale, the entire assembly performs a coordinated transformation: the T-frame jumps forward and rotates 72 degrees, its crossbar and stem exchange positions, and the hour prisms rotate to reveal the next hour. This rapid reconfiguration evokes the interconnected behaviour of particles (a quantum leap) and an amazing mechanical event to watch on the wrist. Driving the display is the automatic UR-30.01V calibre, equipped with URWERK’s patented Dual Flow Turbines to regulate winding. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement delivers a 44-hour power reserve through a double mainspring barrel. The UR-300 Time Quantum is housed in a Grade 5 titanium case measuring 45.2mm by 58.8mm, with a height of 18.25mm. Available in two limited editions of 25 pieces each, in titanium or titanium with AlTiN treatment, the UR-300 Time Quantum pushes the boundaries of contemporary independent watchmaking through its distinctive combination of mechanical ingenuity and avant-garde design.

@urwerkgeneve - UR-150 Scorpion Urwerk is no stranger to exotic kinetic displays of time. The brand has released marvels of timekeeping for nearly 30 years, and in 2024 the brand released its latest interpretation of the UR-Satellite collection, the UR-150 Scorpion. The UR-150’s novel element is hinted by its designation, combining the wandering satellite hours mechanism of the UR-100 series and the retrograde indicator of the later UR-200s. Inspired by the scorpion’s stinger, the UR-150 features a retrograde minute indicator that strikes on the hour, instantly accelerating to cover the 240° minute track on the periphery. At the same time, all of the satellite hour indicators rotate 270° in unison, and they’re actually tilted 10° to the wearer, which adds a lot of complexity. It’s no easy task to power this mechanism and to do so Felix had to design a new satellite complication system based around a flying wheel governor (derived from minute repeaters) combined with a rack and cam system, replacing the Maltese cross designs of earlier watches. This involved developing a special spring that is machined in their own workshop. The brand doubled the usual 120° arc of the minute markers for a more visual and visceral experience - and to great effect in my opinion. It is one of my favorite watches from Urwerk (so far), and a huge part of that is the case. I really like the organic, curved silhouette that flows seamlessly from the sapphire glass. It has the milled edges on the side, a distinctive Urwerk design element. I’m always eager to see what Urwerk is cooking up next. They have firmly planted their flag as modern horological pioneers in the nearly 30 years since their founding. I’d imagine whatever is in store for the 30th anniversary next year will undoubtedly push the envelope and inspire collectors and the next generation of watchmakers with their unique perspective on time. . . . #urwerk #watchcollector #watches #horology #independentwatchmaking

Watch finishing isn’t just about decoration. It’s about controlling light. Take De Bethune’s microlight engraving. Its microscopic facets scatter light in different directions, creating that incredible shimmering effect as you move the watch. Then there’s tremblage, like on Kudoke’s K3. The irregular, hand-worked texture breaks up the reflection, giving the dial a granular, almost vibrating appearance. And compare that to sandblasting, like on the case and bracelet of URWERK’s UR-10 Blue. The extremely fine texture diffuses the light, creating a much softer, more uniform surface. Three completely different finishes, but the same fundamental idea: surface finishing is the art of controlling light. URWERK had to invent an entirely new mechanical system just to make this hand snap. On the UR-150 Golden Scorpion, it looks like everything moves as one unit: the satellite hours and this huge pointer. But the trick is, they're actually independent. The pointer is driven by a snail cam, slowly building up energy as it travels across a 240-degree arc. At 60 minutes, that energy is released, snapping the pointer back to zero with lightning speed — like the sting of a scorpion. Meanwhile, the satellite carrier moves at exactly the same rate, minute by minute. So relative to each other, they appear stationary, creating the illusion they're one piece. Then, as the pointer resets, a planetary gear system rotates the hour discs into position for the next hour. Classic URWERK: insanely complicated, made to look effortless. Now live on YouTube: our Hands-On Closer Look at the URWERK UR-10 SpaceMeter Blue Final Edition. A round dial and central hands from URWERK is somewhat of a head fake. It baits you, and then you have to see what's really going on. The three subdials track the distances our planet travels: Earth's daily rotation at 2 o'clock, its orbit around the Sun at 4, and both combined at 9. Turn it over and a peripheral hand traces a 24-hour scale, with Rotation reading clockwise and Revolution anticlockwise. Inside, the self-winding caliber UR-10.01 with URWERK's patented Dual Flow Turbine. Sandblasted titanium, 45.4 mm by 44 mm and just 7.13 mm thick. Limited to 25 pieces. @urwerkgeneve - UR-100V Magic T Hunter Green This is the latest iteration of the UR-100V Magic T which presents the brand’s iconic satellite hours movement in a subtly metallic ash green color dubbed Hunter Green. Personally, I really liked this iteration after experiencing it in person. The UR-100 has become a signature collection for the brand since the 2019 launch of the UR-100 SpaceTime. That watch’s name hinted at the philosophical inspiration for the entire series - a pendulum clock Felix’s father had gifted him which displayed the distance of the Earth’s rotation at the equator, crafted by Gustave Sandoz for the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. For Felix and Martin, the UR-100 series symbolizes our experience of time on Earth, with the Earth in constant motion in three dimensions - time, orbit, rotation - yet our experience of this is stationary. The UR-100V tries to communicate this by complimenting the iconic satellite hours complication with the two cutouts at 10 and 2 o’clock which indicate the distance of the Earth’s rotation, and the distance the Earth has travelled in its orbiting the Sun, respectively, in the 20 minutes each cutout measures. With the Magic T iterations of the UR-100V, the titanium case and bracelet are finished with a refined sandblasting and shot-blasting process that differentiates it from earlier Full Titanium Jacket iterations. It is a unique, comfortable, and sensual experience that requires you to experience it in person. I’m always eager to see what Urwerk is cooking up next. They have firmly planted their flag as modern horological pioneers in the nearly 30 years since their founding. Link in bio 🔗 The UR-1001 Amadeus is the 2011 Zeit Device pocket watch, a piece URWERK kept in its own treasure chest, now fully hand-engraved in titanium by Florian Güllert over roughly 500 hours. Behind the half-hunter back sits a 1,000-year indicator that advances once a century. The opposite of a second, as Martin puts it. Something for the Dracula among us. The UR-150 Golden Scorpion brings the retrograde satellite display to 2N yellow gold. Nothing much happens for an hour, then the minute hand flies back in a hundredth of a second and the satellites switch at the same instant. Limited to 25 pieces, available to order.
