Whatever happened to TBTs? Look what I found when going through old photos. Taken by @mikebonifer, 3 of the 2008 senior thesis students, the first cohort to graduate from the Honors in Multimedia Scholarship program. As the lore goes, I had Sonia in class every Tuesday for a year, followed by hiring her as reserach assistant for the first Remxing the Archive class. We let her leave for one semester before separation anxiety set in, so we brought her back to help run the joint. Jessica Janner Castro is incredible on the news, and both she and Sonia now have babies! I’ve lost touch with Cameron (who was in @bray_anne section), but he was working for Creative Commons after graduation. #usc #usctrojans #usc_map #usc alum

Making websites is my love language. I made this tiny website for my students at ‘Introduction to Creative Web Programming’ class at USC Media Arts + Practice @usc_map, which links to each student’s class portfolio webpage.

I’m constantly inspired by what they make while we explore the question together: What do we learn in a coding class when AI can code for you?

The website is made with @p5xjs, which is how we start with in class every semester.

I closed my eyes for 15 minutes and woke up 4 years in the future. So much has changed, yet so much still feels the same✌🏾

To You & Me, 30 Years Apart (org: To You & Me, 40 Years Apart) is an archival documentary combine with live piano composition performance. It reveals an unspoken truth in a modern family, and it asks the questions that if life is not so perfect, how do we live through it with one eye close?

I spent the past 12 month devloping this piece, looking at footages from 30 years ago to recent. I hope this film, along with my piano performance will give you a mixed feeling warmth.

Performance Schedule

Excerpt from Future Art Ecosystems Vol. 4 produced by Serpentine R&D.

A realistic argument for how art to recuperate AI from/in a corporate tech feudalist ecosystem. Reappropriating, hacking, making our own systems, work, models that acknowledge the material and ecological constraints of AI, its innate bias and weight, and the move to enclosure and privatization of bio power and public knowledge/data.
