Album 26/182: Half Blood (BloodLuxe) by slayr

Recommended by Azalea @azi.fierro and Charlie @just_charlie25 (COLLABORATIVE EFFORT)

Yeah I’m definitely a hardcore fan now this absolutely fucks

Genuinely I’ve never thought about if hyperpop/break core could work so well with rap and I’m so happy that it can because slayr was MELTING MY MIND with this record holy shit

Every single transition in this album had my jaw dropped to the point where I was probably mouth agape for a collective half hour during my listen to this record😭😭

Not only to highlight the mixing on the transitions though, this entire album’s mixing and sound design is incredible, with each song having such a disgusting (in the best way possible) mashup of samples and assets that slayr remixed into genuinely mind melding beats

I don’t think I’d ever go to a concert (sorry azalea) because I know my ass would get flattened like a pancake but I’m definitely a huge fan from here on out this was awesome

Overall: 8.3/10

SPECIAL EDITION EXTRA ALBUM REVIEW: U by Underscores

Disclaimer: this isn’t a part of the new album every day challenge but I thought it’d be fun to recommend random albums I love once in a while and since I first listened to this record, it’s been playing nonstop for the past 2 months or so.

I’ve never been a hyperpop/techno fan, only have a somewhat adjacent and short lived house phase in middle school, but that changed when I listened to Jane remover for the first time and she itched this little crevice in the back of my brain that had never been struck before and I got addicted.

@azi.fierro recommended I listen underscores and I put it off until right before she went to her concert in late May, and I’ve been feeling suicidal ever since because THIS IS MY ALBUM OF THE YEAR SO FAR BY A LONGSHOT

I don’t know what else I can say without this review becoming a glaze fest but Underscores is genuinely doing something in this album with techno that hasn’t been done in over a decade, and I hope this ushers in a new renaissance for the genre, because I’m tired of techno being conflated with rave music, which is why I put it off for so long, because REAL techno is so different and so beautiful

ANYWAYS STREAM LOVEFIELD BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM 11/10 NO NOTES
