Painted a lush collaborative mural at @usiedu as part of my week as a visiting artist with the @usi_artdesign students and faculty. We planned this as part live mural and part workshop where students could come watch or pick up a paintbrush and learn alongside me in between classes (seriously I would’ve loved to attend something like this when I was in school!).

Did you know there’s a free zine (while supplies last!) to accompany the current solo exhibit through next Saturday July 11, 2026, ‘Ground Figures’ by Chicago-based artist Sheldon Till-Campbell @sheldontillcampbell ? Designed by 2025-2026 University of Southern Indiana James A. Sanders Fellow Kat Medina-Martinez @weird_artist4 during her time at the gallery, the zine is based off a conversation between the artist, Kat, and NHGCA Curator Audra Verona Lambert about the artist’s practice and influences. With Kat using her expertise as an illustrator and Spring 2026 @usi_artdesign graduate, readers of the zine are treated to cute illustrations and animal icons that mark when each person in the conversation is speaking in a fun, creative way (image 3.) Come check out the zine and see how it interfaces with Sheldon Till-Campbell’s artworks, and adds extra insight into their meaning. Although closed this Saturday, July 4th in observance of the Fourth of July holiday, the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is open regular hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Tuesday - Saturday.

As a final show highlight, the gallery is grateful to continue working closely with the University of Southern Indiana’s own Art and Design Department @usi_artdesign for NHGCA’s BG Projects. As the show “The Zine Scene: A Regional Sampler” will close today, May 30th with a gallery Open House from 3-5 p.m. CT, we wanted to give additional thanks to Dr. Greg Blair @gregblairart (image 2 with USI’26 student/exhibiting artist Morgan Ellis @morgan_ellis10 ) and his Graphic Design students from 2021-2026 for connecting visitors to the University’s student culture. Dr. Greg Blair served as a great knowledge base, making the connection to University of Kentucky Professor David Wischer (image 6, Wischer, left, with Dr. Blair, right) for the show, explaining his experience participating in regional zine fests, providing firsthand knowledge of the punk music scene from which zines originate, and loaning past student zines from his personal collection for the exhibit. He gathered the zines from past and current students, mailed them to the gallery, worked to produce an exhibit poster with USI student Addison Sumner @addison_sumner , and spoke at a Zine Panel (link to YouTube recording in bio.) Dr. Blair, alongside USI’26 arts student Morgan Ellis @morgan_ellis10 , also consigned zines available for sale in the gallery shop (images 4 and 6.) University of Southern Indiana (USI) Art and Design Department, operates from the university campus in Evansville, IN. It has multiple studios for ceramics, woodshop, sculpture, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and digital media. The USI Art and Design Department offers a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BA) with concentrations in Art History, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interactive Media, Photography, and Studio. The department emphasizes key degree outcomes, including exhibits in the student gallery and exhibitions with the USI Art Collection, Kenneth P. McCutchan Art Center/Palmina F. and StephenS. Pace Galleries, and the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art’s BG Projects. The New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT.
