We had the pleasure of hosting a visit for the current occupational therapy doctorate students at St. Mary’s University.

Students learned about the benefits of incorporating hippotherapy into a plan of care for their future clients, observed an occupational therapy session utilizing hippotherapy, toured our barn, and met some of our therapy partners 🐴

Best of luck to these future OTs as they continue their educational journey - we’d love to have them back out at the barn in the future! ❤️

College isn't scary, especially when there's candy involved! 🎃

Last Saturday, GEAR UP students and families came together for our October Saturday Academy, "College Isn't Scary – Trunk or Treat College Fair!"

Students learned ACT text-taking strategies with Mastery Prep, while parents participated in Families Thriving to discuss ways to support their children throughout their academic journeys and beyond.

The day continued with a Halloween-themed college trunk or treat fair, where students heard from college representatives about their experiences and discovered that higher education is an achievable goal!

#GEARUPworks by helping students and families prepare for the future and showing that college doesn't have to be scary!

Today was a reminder of how grateful I am to have a career that allows me to do things like this.

Since 2017, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with students preparing to graduate with their doctorates in physical therapy about the financial side of the next chapter of their lives, from student loans and debt management to investing and retirement planning.

Nearly a decade later, it’s something I still look forward to every year. These students have worked so hard to get where they are, and being able to help them feel a little more confident and prepared for what comes next is something I don’t take for granted.

We spend so much time preparing for our careers, but not always enough time talking about how to navigate the financial side of them. I’m grateful to be a small part of that conversation and to continue doing something that feels so meaningful.

Dan Kennedy, VP of Outreach, Danielle Neenan, PT, and Olivia had a great time visiting first-year DPT students at the University of Saint Mary this week! They provided education about community-based services and highlighted what’s possible when therapy is tailored to each person and delivered in the places that matter most.

We love opportunities to connect with future clinicians and help them learn about the impact of therapy in the home and community. And of course, we couldn’t leave without bringing a few snacks to help them power through finals! ⚡️📚

Good luck, Class of 2029! We look forward to following your journey!
