Great visit to Saronic Technologies last week! 🫡🇺🇸

Our team witnessed firsthand how the character of modern warfare is evolving at a breakneck pace, reinforcing our duty at the Naval Academy to graduate leaders who are adaptable to technological change, and more importantly, can drive that change! ⚓️🇺🇸

Integrating autonomous systems across surface, subsurface, and aviation platforms is central to our vision for midshipman development as we prepare them for a fleet that is crewed and uncrewed, but seamlessly integrated.

Observing emerging capabilities in maritime autonomy reinforces how vital innovation and industry engagement are to keep ahead of the threat curve. Thank you to Saronic Tech for showing us their speed of manufacturing and innovative processes.

Our Vision…Our Brigade will execute cutting-edge research in the classroom and gain hands-on exposure to robotic and autonomous systems before ever stepping out to the Fleet. The future battlefield will demand seamless team-building between warfighters and autonomous technology. At the Naval Academy, that prep time is now…and we are moving out! ⚓️

Your West Point Society of Northern CA helped staff the West Point booth at the recent Capitol Air Show at Mather last Saturday and Sunday.

While watching the aerial displays and tremendous feats of flying put on by the Thunderbirds, Canada’s Snowbirds, and a myriad of others, by far the best part was talking about West Point to a multitude of great young people and their parents along with 1LT Jacob “JT” Turner, (USMA ‘23), the West Point Admissions Office Far West Engagement Officer.

Officers and Members of our Board of Directors: Secretary Stuart Wright ‘96 and Board Member Larry Smith ‘62 (both Congressional District Coordinators), Board Member Mark Williams ‘03, Vice President Strategic Planning & Outreach Heather Caldwell ‘99, and President Tony Gates ‘81 were there as well.

Special shout-out to Linda Updegraff (Parent ‘18), President of the West Point Parents Club of Northern CA, and some of her Board Members, including Tammy McCarley (Parent ‘30).

Our Sister Service Academies were standing tall and looking good right next to us!t

Next to the exceptional people, the Sunday night Finale was a REAL treat!!

It is by no means enough that an officer of the Navy should be a capable mariner. He must be that, of course, but also a great deal more…

Commemorative and battle ready.

Put it on the shelf, take it to the range.

The Ship of War. ⚓️

Sails full of wind. A legacy centuries in the making.

An age-of-sail warship representing the proud traditions of naval service, seamanship, and the courage of those who sailed before us.

Every detail of the USNA Class of 2027 crest tells a story. This one honors the Navy’s heritage and the generations of leaders who answered the call to serve.

Fair winds and following seas, Class of 2027. 🇺🇸

Big Football Weekend on this "Founder's Day" ... the date when USNA was established in 1845!
- Our house decorated for the occasion.
- Upper Right: Parade at United States Naval Academy yesterday. Parades used to be Midshipmen-only marches. Nowadays they're much more exciting: Aerial drones (piloted by Midshipmen) launched from Yard Patrol Craft in the Severn River destroying a target on the Parade Field, Midshipmen Sky Divers, a Pipe (Bagpipes) and Drum Corps, Silent Drill Team, and of course the Drum and Bugle Corps. Proud my ol' 11th Company Tigers are the reigning "Color Company" this year, the top-performing unit in the Brigade.
- Second Down on Right: With RADM Jerry Smith ('61). Jerry was the USNA Brigade Commander the year I was born! Talk about "Link In The Chain!"
- Third Down on Right: With Phil ('65) and Linda Ferrara and the current Brigade Commander, MIDN 1/C Brooklyn Guan ... the "Link in the Chain" continues!
- Lower Right: Best decorated house on The Yard!
