TJ Shaw Jr. put together a spectacular high school career for the Green Valley Gators, serving as a premier, middle-of-the-order offensive threat and a lockdown corner infielder. Culminating his stellar high school journey in 2024, Shaw delivered a jaw-dropping senior campaign where he posted a blistering .432 batting average, racking up 51 hits, 10 doubles, 3 home runs, and 37 RBIs over 35 games while flashing his speed with 12 stolen bases. This statistical dominance earned him the ultimate individual distinction of being named MaxPreps Player of the Year, alongside First Team All-Mountain League Infield and Second Team All-Southern Nevada Infield honors. His clutch hitting—highlighted by multiple Player of the Game awards and critical game-winning hits during the NIAA State Playoffs—solidified him as one of the most decorated and impactful sluggers in recent Gators history.
How does the intensity of college baseball compare to high school?
The intensity of college baseball is a lot more competitive compared to high school. Everyone on the college level is trying to advance to the next level and the competition is a lot more difficult than high school. I’ve been fortunate to have amazing coaches at the juco level and at the division 1 level so far to help me improve as a ballplayer and a human being.
What has been the biggest challenge and how did you overcome it? (College Baseball or College Life)
My biggest challenge so far is coming back after hamate bone surgery last year at Cochise. It took a lot of rehab, self belief, and support from family in order to bounce back from this injury. Now that I am fully healthy, I believe that the sky is the limit!
Describe baseball and what it means to you.
Baseball is everything for me. I’ve been playing since I was 5 years old and my dream is to play professional baseball. I’ve been training with my dad and grandfather since I was that young and I haven’t turned back since!

Another big time prospect off the board in the 2027 class, Congrats to @_dsa22 on his recent commitment to Utah Tech University. The Trailblazers are adding some huge pop into the lineup and a plus arm on the mound! Can’t wait to see what you accomplish in St. George next year 🙌🏼 #BeUncommon
