🎙️ The new episode of Real Moms Talking is out today!

In this episode, I’m talking with Ute about what it felt like to grow up within two cultures — navigating different languages, expectations, and identities as a child.

Sometimes, being part of two cultures means not quite fitting into the box others expect you to fit into. And that can be hard.

Here’s a little glimpse into our conversation. 🤍

International Day of Multilingualism – March 27 🌍

Between half and two-thirds of the world’s population uses more than one language.

Children grow up navigating multiple linguistic worlds.
They switch, mix, and adapt — not as a deficit, but as a resource.

If you can use more than one language, you do.
Multilinguals don’t simply “know languages.”
They function across languages and cultures, making meaning flexibly and dynamically.

And yet, we continue to evaluate them through monolingual norms.

It’s about time to change the narrative:

Multilingualism is not the exception.
It is the global reality.

Multilingualism is normal.

February 2026

This month was a short month, with a lot of experiences.
My sister L had holidays and spent it at home (obviously just to see me), we spent that time playing and making faces (with some begging for food.
I also went to the beach several times with mum and dad. I think it is safe to say I’m a beach boy.
My new experience for the month: went to the groomers for the first time, I had a very good time, I came back home looking fresh and handsome. Mum even gave me a treat cigar for my good behaviour at the groomers.
I even got to show off my new hair style to Sister A, since she is living in a different country it had to be via FaceTime, but if she gets to see me it’s all okay.
