Blue in the best way🌀 IARC 101 explored the cyanotype process- an early photographic printing method once used to create architectural blue prints. Using sunlight and light sensitive materials, students turned simple tote bags into one of a kind blueprints. #blueprints #printmaking Students making cyanotype

Congratulations to senior Interior Architecture student Rena Drakakis, one of just 15 students nationwide selected to receive the prestigious 2026 Angelo Donghia Scholarship, a $30,000 award recognizing exceptional creativity and technical skill.

Rena’s award-winning project, Rootbound Studios, reimagines the traditional Appalachian cantilever barn as a contemporary artist residency with a focus of sustainability.

In Knoxville, Tennessee, @mvandeman moderated a candid conversation hosted by @iidatn about navigating motherhood, careers, and everything in between. The takeaway? Be present. Ask for help. Set boundaries. And give yourself permission to shift with the season. Because motherhood and meaningful work don’t have to compete. In many ways, they make each other stronger.

Listen to the latest episode of Imagine a place to hear more of the perspectives and stories from the panelists and guests that made this gathering so special.

I'm happy to share this documentary on Rock, Paper, Scissors, Fabric, Studs, a design-build pavilion by fourth-year students at the UT School of Interior Architecture — built to exhibit a parallel seminar's essays on contemporary Latin American architecture.

The film follows the process from scarcity as a starting constraint through iteration, cross-pollination, and teamwork, to the pavilion's exhibition at First Friday Knoxville in May 2026, and earned the 2026 Tau Sigma Delta Bronze Medal.

I had the best time participating in the 2026 IIDA Student Design Charette and attending NeoCon in Chicago last week. Representing the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s College of Interior Architecture, I collaborated with talented students from across the country. In just 4.5 hours, our team designed and presented “The Collective,” a new office concept for MillerKnoll’s Fulton Market office.

NeoCon and Design Days was such a valuable experience, and I learned so much from the competition, showroom tours, and the people I met throughout the week. I’m grateful for the opportunity! #neocon #iidastudentcharette #iida
