I’ve failed …. Again…

While part of me feels like a failure, other part sees this as a maturity, and ability to set ego aside and see the reality for what it is!

I’ve signed up for 50KM @utmboman about a year ago… but little did I know what this years holds for me!

Divorce, setting up my own company, working non stop… I didn’t have any time or capacity to train!

While I did run full marathon last year, I’ve not really been running trails, and the only trail race I did was Al Ula trail race with @racearabia - which was stunning but didn’t have enough elevation and was not a technical race!

Feeling incredible amount of pressure with Oman UTMB coming in December, I have decided to head to Oman and do @himamtrailrun - just to understand the terrain!

Mind you, I’ve only signed up for 10km! And, how incredibly beautiful it was! However, I just reconfirmed to myself - I’m not ready for 50 KM!

I could totally pretend to be as hard as Goggings and say I’ll go HARD no matter what… but .. nah! Our world needs more vulnerability and maturity! I’m really not trying to prove anyone anything 😂 Running and racing for me is part of MY JOURNEY, not a show!

So good bye for now Oman! (Unless @utmboman opens 20km registration 🙏🙏🙏)

Now, it’s time to look for smaller races in the region, so if you have any suggestions- please drop the ideas in comments!

My last tough trail run was on Mount Elbrus. Afterwards, my legs were begging for a beach and a sun lounger.
But somehow, things didn’t quite go to plan. On the 16th, I’m running 63 km in Cappadocia.
I’ll call it a scenic dress rehearsal for Oman UTMB 50 km . Yes, preparing for 50 kilometres by running 63 is a strange approach. But I’m very good at making questionable decisions sound like “part of the strategy.” 🤝
Hopefully, the hot air balloons and beautiful mountains will distract me from the distance. For the first few kilometres, I’ll be thinking: “Wow, this place is beautiful!” Then: “So… can I drop out?”
The plan is simple: enjoy myself. If that doesn’t work, at least get some photos that make it look like I did. 😅🤣
