This is perhaps the time of year when I miss home the most. I remember listening to this song in Sharda Sinha ji’s voice as a child, with that familiar chill in the air. It takes me back to a time, a place, and so many memories that will always feel like home. ❤️ #pujavibes #bhojpurifolk #bihari #bihariculture #indiemusician

P.S- Not all Bhojpuri songs are vulgar
Thanks @utpaludit for showing the actual bihari folk the world.

Village mornings just feel different. The fresh air, the sound of birds, distant geet and bhajans coming from a mandir, and the slow, peaceful start to the day… everything feels a little surreal here.

Utpal Udit’s (@utpaludit ) music makes you think about what we carry with us when we move forward.

How much of where we come from stays in the music we make? What changes when those sounds travel to new audiences, new stages and new places?

His work draws from the Maithili, Bhojpuri and regional sounds he grew up around, while constantly looking for new ways to make them speak to contemporary audiences.

His journey has taken him from these deeply rooted sounds to the Coke Studio Bharat stage, and now to a growing audience beyond the region.

We're excited to explore conversations around carrying a culture into new sounds without feeling like you have to leave something behind.

Utpal is joining us at the IFP Festival Season 16, as part of the Indie Musicians Roundtable | On Reclaiming The Roots.

Come be part of the conversation.
