POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Building The Hermitage in the hills of Kanatal back in the late 1980s was no easy feat.

In Episode 13 of Stories from The Hermitage, Suman and Les take us back to those early days, sharing the challenges of building a home away from home in the mountains, the unexpected surprises along the way, and the memories that still bring a smile to their faces.

From Les quietly getting two extra rooms constructed to the surprise that followed, these stories reveal more than just the making of a hotel. They reflect a bond built on trust, teamwork, laughter, and a shared dream.

Because sometimes, the most beautiful things are built not just with hard work, but with a little mischief and a lot of love. ❤️

Some mornings, everything turns grey. ☁️
The clouds roll in, the view disappears, and it feels like the mountain has gone.

But it was always there.

Clouds are only passing through. Let them drift. Stay rooted. Every storm ends, and the view always returns. 🌿⛰️

Some places become a part of your story long before you realise it.
In 2012, Harsh arrived at The Hermitage quite by chance. A spontaneous bike trip, a sudden turn, heavy rain, broken-down bikes and nowhere to go brought him to our doorstep. What followed was an unexpected welcome from Suman Bhatia, who took them in and cared for them like her own children.
That one unplanned night turned into a tradition. Harsh has returned to The Hermitage every year since.
And today, with Palak by his side, he is back once again — revisiting old memories and sharing the story with Suman.
Because perhaps the truest measure of hospitality isn’t how warmly you’re welcomed the first time, but how often you choose to return.❤️
