Joining us at the exhibition launch of ‘The Places We Become’ are the incredibly talented Mazvita and Ursa who will be blessing our ears with their sound waves …

Mazvita is a alt-R&B polymath known for her captivating, poetic lyricism and genre-defying production. She’s played shows across the UK and Europe including a residency in her home city, Manchester; Mazvita has built up excitement in the UK Underground scene.

Mazvita has already caught the attention of industry tastemakers, with BBC Introducing, The Culture Crypt Magazine, Mixtape Madness, Hoezine and Voices Radio offering early acclaim. The artist has been celebrated for her unique ability to blend her signature style with different sounds.

✨✨✨✨✨

Ursa is a Polish-born, genre-blending producer and vocalist. Through vulnerable lyricism and driving tectonic basslines, her music is a focused exploration of solitude.

Sitting at the intersection of avant-pop and alternative R&B, her tender yet resilient sound aims to reveal the most honest parts of our nature.

Join us on Friday 16th October for the launch of “The Places We Become” exhibition.

Who we are and the places we hold close to us, change. We get woven into the stories of the places we come from, places we leave behind, places we find ourselves in and places we continue to dream of.

The Places We Become is an exploration of identity, belonging, memory, displacement, and transformation. More than 10 artists have come together to answer how do we imprint on places and how do they imprint on us?

The exhibition features artwork showing us stories of gentrification, lost land, colonialism, migration and belonging. It asks what it means to find a home, to continue to lose one, to outgrow the spaces that once held us and to discover ourselves in places we never expected.

On the night, we will be watch 2 pieces and one will be followed with a discussion before we listen to our poets who will also be reflecting on their different relationships to places.

Following this, will be two incredibly talented artists, Mazvita and Ursa, known for their incredible, poetic and vulnerable lyricism and genre-blending production who will be soundtracking the night.

Any money made from tickets or artwork sales will go directly to families in Gaza, who continue to fight for their land, to preserve the places that hold their histories, and to imagine a future rooted in belonging rather than displacement ❤️

Limited free tickets available, otherwise tickets are £5 or Pay What you Can. If cost is a barrier, just message me @DaPicnik.

Alongside the exhibition, there will be a programme of workshops and more information regarding this and the artists will follow shortly over the next few days.
