It’s the end of AANHPI month and ending with a pic of the future Governor of Wisconsin @francescahongwi , endorsing my brainchild, “Teaching the Invisible Race”. 📕 thank you again Fran for the love here ! Cheers People were asking where to purchase it and/ how to support my work this month and quite frankly I haven’t been advertising the book as much because * I’m drowning in data collection for dissertation, while dreaming a new book proposal * Building a new teacher fellowship * being present with family But if you’re interested: Where to buy: - @kubo.lb (Longbeach, CA) - @boswellbookco (Milwaukee, WI - @mamsbookstore (Seattle, WA) -Magers & Quinn via Bookshop (Minneapolis, MN) - @harvardcoop (Cambridge, MA) - The Strand bookstore (New York , NY) Which libraries that I know of: -Stanford -Vanderbilt Peabody -Teachers College , Columbia -Gutman Library , Hgse -UW-Madison -Boston University -Milwaukee Public Library -Boston Public Library -New York Public Library -Seattle Public Library -San Francisco Public Library And always for any AANHPI authors, please leave a good review, wherever you access it ! Don’t let non—AANHPI folks be the voice of our communities.

Honored to be selected as a 2026 National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation Fellow, especially in this crucial time. I’m sitting here thinking… don’t sleep on the Filipino kid from the Midwest. We were destined for more. The Award: The fellowship offers training on dissertation writing, mentorship, and $27,500 to complete our writing. The pool consisted of 35 selected from 500 applicants. My dissertation is titled: “In the Belly of the Beast: WI Act 266 & the Policy Advocacy of HMoob/Hmong and Asian Americans in Wisconsin” I’m grateful for my advisor, Dr. AJ Welton, my fierce committee, and the entire village at UW-Madison ELPA & UW-Madison SOE who guided me here. SO proud of my fellow badgers who also received the fellowship this year! Lastly, thanks to my wife Stephanie Jimenez, my rock who I’m forever grateful for, because without her this journey would not be possible. If you got NAEd/Spencer this year, I can’t wait to see you shine, fight, and learn with/from you in DC! If you are thinking of applying, don’t be shy to message me, and I will send you my application materials (no gatekeeping!). Good news coming in May, this is one of two. Got a local Ed Policy grant for my work studying the policy advocacy of HMoob and Asian Americans that led to the passage of Act 266 (HMoob and AsAm Ed policy). This will help me host a launch event at the end of next year to showcase the Oral Histories I’m collecting 🙏🏽 Grateful to be trusted to do this work.

IRB exempt & now we LIVE! 🙏🏽 Hi Wisconsin people! I’m doing an Oral History project for my dissertation on the policy advocacy of Wisconsin Act 266, which mandates HMoob/Hmong and Asian American K-12 History to be taught across Wisconsin. I’m hoping to interview 20-30 HMoob/Hmong and Asian Americans who were involved in the policy advocacy or organizing of Act 266 from all across Wisconsin. Examples of Policy Advocacy: Examples of policy advocacy include, but are not limited to: letter-writing campaigns, written/oral testimony, coalition building, media / public awareness, policy research and development, litigation, and more. Financial Reciprocity: All participants will receive $25 for participating in this study. And participants have the option to be included in the oral history archive OR to contribute solely to my dissertation anonymously. Archival Reciprocity: (Optional) I will partner with either the Wisconsin Historical Society or the UW-Madison libraries to archive the stories. RSVP by scanning the link or visiting the link in bio! If you know of someone that fits this description, please share with them ! At the end are pics of HMoob & AsAm kin who fought for this bill. I’m not here without you.
