Augustana Interregional, graded

Our call against LACCTiC, USTFCCCA’s XCRI computer ratings and the coaches’ national poll, in average places off (lower is better).

As called: each one as it stood before the gun, on projected lineups (no entry lists were posted).
On who raced: every team re-scored on the runners who actually finished.

For the first 10 runners in each race: where each source had them among the finishers.

The poll ranks only part of the field, so it’s graded on the teams it ranks. Results from TFRRS.

It's a new era for the reigning national champions who lost a ton of firepower from last year's team. 😳

Can a promising crop of fast-rising distance talents allow the Eagles to reload rather than rebuild this fall? 🦅🤔

The UW-La Crosse men come in at TSR #5 in @TheStrideReport's NCAA D3 XC Top-10 Preseason Team Rankings.

The Ethan Gregg scholarship goes to Logan Murphy. Ethan Gregg had an outstanding career as a distance runner at UWL developing into one of the top runners in Division III. A La Crosse native and Aquinas High School graduate, Gregg became a three-time NCAA cross-country All-American, finishing 11th nationally in 2021, fourth in 2022, and then winning the 2023 NCAA Division III individual cross-country championship—only the second UWL runner in school history to win the national title. He also won two WIAC cross-country championships and was named the 2023 WIAC and NCAA Division III Cross Country Athlete of the Year. On the track, Gregg was even more decorated, earning seven NCAA All-America honors and two national championships, becoming the first Eagle to win the NCAA indoor 3,000 meters in 2023 and successfully defending that title in 2024. He also won four WIAC individual championships and finished his career with elite UWL marks of 13:52.59 for 5,000m, 28:40.35 for 10,000m, 8:01.23 for 3,000m, and 23:38.4 for 8K cross country.
Overall, Gregg’s career stands out as one of the strongest distance-running careers in UWL history, combining national championships, conference titles, All-American honors, and school records. He is now a professional runner with @brooksrunning big goals set for the Chicago Marathon coming up shortly.

Some personal notes watching Ethan over the years is that he was a notorious front runner, and his old school hard work mentality wanted to make races honest and he loved the pressure to push the pace. His first indoor title was probably my favorite of all his wins!
