There's no one who embodies the UWL Eagle family quite like Phil Whitesitt.

Phil's journey began as a student-athlete, competing in men's track & field for four years before adding a fifth season as a member of the football team. During his time as an Eagle, the men's track & field program captured eight consecutive NCAA Division III national championships. After earning his master's degree from UWL, he returned as a track & field coach and now serves as the Director of Sports Performance, working with student-athletes across nearly every program.

Having experienced UWL Athletics as an athlete, coach, mentor, and leader, Phil has a unique perspective on what it means to live #AsAnEagle. More than two decades after first putting on an Eagle uniform, Phil is still investing in the next generation of Eagles. Around here, UWL isn't just where he went to school—it's home.

For an extended conversation and even more of Phil's story, watch the full Eagle Family Friday interview on our YouTube channel.

BIG thank you to the Minnesota Twins @twins for having us to a game and for honoring our 2024 Men’s Cross Country National Championship team!

Our Strength Coach, Phil Whitesitt got to throw out the first pitch and the men got to showcase their vocal talents in the 7th inning. 👀

It was a neat experience to relive some special memories and to stack some new ones!
