The End Of An Era.

I got a day job so that I could free up my nights to do drag. More on that soon. 😘

I’m so grateful for the last two years with this company. When I reflect back on the rollercoaster ride, I can’t help but be grateful for all of the relationships built and friendships fostered. Nightlife can be a very dark and depressing place to work, and so many of these people have been my lifelines. From all the cute cocktail servers & bartenders I had crushes on (that became my besties), to the hardest working drag queens in the world, I found family.

Bartending is thankless work, and it takes a toll on your mental and physical wellbeing. I appreciate every bartender I had the opportunity to stand beside and learn from in one way or another.

I had the PRIVILEGE of working with so many nightlife legends and icons: @shequidahall @pixieaventura @thebritafilter @itskimmimoore @_nickgaga_ @lagoonabloonyc etc. Watch Drag Race legends emerge @megaminyc . I learned so much just by working all these shows. Whether the bar was empty or standing room only, these girls just showed the fck up and turned the party!

I could go on and on about all the insane sht that happened, or all the less than magical experiences. I choose to focus on all the lovely regulars that kept me company and shared their lives with me. The powers that be who saw my hustle, and showed me respect for it. To all the people who actually tipped me what I’m worth, and encouraged me to pursue my dreams with no hesitation. I say thank you. I wouldn’t be where I am without the love and support of the QUEER community, that has put its arms around me and lifted me up in all the ways it can.

I am proud to say that I was a major player in the success of opening a brand new bar in Hell’s Kitchen. Balcon and the sister bars will always be home to me, because I essentially started my queer journey there. So many firsts as an out gay man in the city. I wish them nothing but success, and you will still definitely see me around. It’s not goodbye, it’s “See you on the other side of the bar!” ✨
