POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We are very glad to have Viivi interning with us this autumn! She’s the left hand you need! And even some of you might have already met her, here’s a formal introduction to her work:
Viivi Päiväsaari is a visual artist working with storytelling and lens-based art. She likes to pay attention to small, mundane details and everyday things left in between. Her works are often tightly linked to personal experiences, those of hers and borrowed.

Last weekend! ➡️➡️➡️

Exhibitions open ⏱️ 12–18

𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗗 is a group exhibition gathering together works by the graduating class of the Photography Department at @muotoiluinstituutti LAB Institute of Design and Fine Arts. The exhibition juxtaposes fourteen very different relationships to the medium of photography, which the artists approach through observation, memory, structure, and open-ended questions. The installations have been designed into a disused basement complex together with the students, and are produced according to the circular economy principles of the festival.

🟢 🟢 🟢

Welcome to our guided exhibition tours on Sunday! Admission is free, and tours are conducted in Finnish and/or English, depending on the wishes and needs of the participants.

Utopias Lahti 2026

Visual Arts Festival

7.–24.5.2026

Moukan aktiivisuus avajaisrintamalla on ollut passiivisempaa, mutta Moukka päätyi pari viikkoa sitten Lahteen kolmatta kertaa järjestettävän Utopias Lahden, @utopiaslahti avajaishuumaan. Tästä toipuminen on vienyt aikaa. Valokuvataide ja festivaalin paikat saivat Moukan perusteellisen innostuksen valtaan, jonka tuloksena Moukka lähti päivystämään Ravintola Torveen mahdollisuutta jututtaa viime vuonna Jouko Lehtola Säätiön valitsemaa Nuorta Sankaria Antti Sepposta.

THRESHOLD — Graduation Exhibition of LAB Institute of Design Photography BA students, presented as part of @utopiaslahti 2026: Crystal Palace.

The exhibition brings together 14 artists and their relationships with photography as memory, observation, structure, and an open question. Installed in a disused basement space in Lahti, the exhibition has been built collaboratively with the artists as part of the artist-run visual arts festival.

My own work, Ikimetsän naiset (Women of the Old-Growth Forest), is a long-term documentary project created in Helsinki’s Kivinokka. Built through years of presence and repeated visits, the work explores women’s relationships with place, nature, and community. Rather than approaching documentary photography as neutral observation, the project considers photography as a relational practice shaped by time, trust, and the encounter between photographer, subject, and viewer.

//

Random Tanssit will feature a performance from Destinee! Destinee is a Tampere-based belly dancer who has performed as part of different groups and done some solo work as well. When she dances solo she usually improvises, so at we will also get to experience an improvised performance from her at Random Tanssit.

Let the music take you on a journey and the dance speak for itself! 🪷🪩💓
