What makes you so amazing? And what makes it so hard for most of us (especially if you’re British!) to accept that we are amazing, to remind ourselves of that?

Think for a moment of all that has happened to you in the last year, 5 years, 10, 20, 30…. More…. Think of ALL that you have handled and learnt and you just
STILL
KEEP
SHOWING
UP

You keep learning, rising, unfurling. How could you not notice how amazing you are! ✨

Think of all the times you made a stranger smile. The times you gave a random compliment, the times you helped someone carry luggage or a buggy up the stairs. The times you rested your hand on someone’s shoulder when they were sharing something with you. The times you gave up your seat for someone who needed it. The times you smiled or made a silly face at a kid to make them grin. The times you wrote something and posted that made a small difference to someone’s day. Heck, maybe their life. The times you stood up for someone else, no matter what. ✨

Think of all those little moments of human connection, in a world where connection is dwindling to doubletaps more frequently than conversations, to scrolling, to online forums, to the things we try to do to connect because we are so overwhelmed and exhausted half the time. ✨

You are amazing. I hope you know it. I hope you keep being it. Because gosh we need you. ✨💕✨

(What does that have to do with handstands? As much or as little as you want. For me, it’s about showing up, again and again, whether imperfectly or when it works. It’s about trying to get better at something. It’s about not judging myself if I wobble, whether that’s wobbling on my hands or when life throws a curveball. If you want to join me for an online handstand workshop, drop me a 🤸🏽emoji below and I’ll be in touch)

One of our own needs our help. Link in bio.

This is one of my early photos of Nige Pelvin—father, purple belt under @carlossantosbjj . You might not know him, but he’s family to me, his wife is a big sis who I’ve known since birth and I’m godfather to his son. After years off the mats, he made an epic return, earning his purple belt and even teaching classes, sharing his knowledge and love for BJJ.

Nige is quite private and reserved, but he always shows up when needed. He’s a role model as a hands-on dad, and now it’s time for us to show up for him. He’s facing an aggressive type of brain cancer called glioblastoma, and we can’t let him face it alone.

Sometimes the fight is off the mats, please help us raise awareness and funds for his battle. Whatever you can give, it all matters. Let’s rally for Nige. Links in my bio. #fckcancer #braincancer #glioblastoma

MOBILITY is LIFE: So - you expect your body to perform those Gucci moves as well as the essential BJJ fundamentals? 🥷🏽😈

At @vaijiujitsu mobility for BJJ is a fundamental part of our programme - we aim to keep you strong and fluid ON and off the mats to improve your movement and your everyday life. In the last few months we’ve seen everyone gain so much in their range and their Jiu Jitsu movement 👏🏽💪🏽. For killer moves and submissions, mobility is the essential way forward. Do you agree?
