Fall has a way of bringing us back home. 🍂 Even when home is complicated. Bosom is a story about two sisters who find themselves face to face with family, grief, and years of things left unsaid. Some things are easier to avoid when you have distance. Until you’re sitting in the same room again. Written and directed by George Ellzey Jr., Bosom explores what happens when the past finally has nowhere left to hide. Now streaming on KweliTV. BOSOM 🎬🩷🫂 If you’re looking for something to watch this fall, give it a watch. Then tell us what stayed with you. #BosomFilm #KweliTV #BlackCinema #ChicagoFilm #IndependentFilm

February 2022. Masks on. 6 feet apart. We hadn’t been in the same room in two years. Neither had these characters - in fact, they hadn’t spoken in seven. Before we ever rehearsed a scene from Bosom, Kayla Carter, @kellyehoward and I spent two hours just talking. Not about the script. About who these women were as children. What their mother meant to them. Where the relationship broke. For the first 30 minutes it was awkward. Nobody fully surrendered. Then something shifted. The characters stopped being fictional. They became real people with real history sitting in that room with us. That’s when I knew the film was going to work. That’s what rehearsal is actually for. Here’s the process that got us there → ↳ Send the questionnaire before you ever meet ↳ Don’t run scenes — build shared history first ↳ Find the state they arrive in, not the blocking ↳ Give structure, not endless freedom ↳ Ask questions. Never give answers. When actors stop performing and start living — the camera just witnesses it. Save this before your next rehearsal. 🎬 Follow for weekly directing and filmmaking tips. 📷: @mlamourt.studioss . . . . . #filmmaking #directorlife #actingtips #indiefilm rehearsal
