Just a kid from Kentucky (living in Central Ohio) checking off a bucket-list experience: playing the major championship venue in my home state.

The bar has officially been set for my best golf course experience, Valhalla Golf Club (Louisville, KY). Valhalla has hosted four PGA Championships (1996, 2000, 2014, and 2024), the 2008 Ryder Cup, and scheduled to host the 2028 Solheim Cup. As soon as you walk into the clubhouse, it feels like stepping into a museum. Major championship trophies, photos of major champions, their scorecards, and their clubs used.

A beautiful course and property with nods to thoroughbred country through out. The course was tough. The greens were firm and fast. The front nine beat me up, but I managed to turn things around on the back, making pars on the signature 13th and 18th (and even snuck in a birdie on 17). The wooden flagsticks and burlap flags were a nice touch.

I’ve been fortunate to play some incredible courses, but this one is going to be tough to top. Between the history, the property, the golf course, and the opportunity to play a major championship venue in my home state, it was an experience I’ll never forget.

A huge thank you to my friends at @oarsandalps , along with Keith and the entire Valhalla team, for the incredible hospitality.

Crazy golf being played across the US this week. ⛳

We saw you all use SmartPin across the U.S. at some sweet tracks, let’s talk about it

1️⃣ Brian Bachman took on hole 14 at Valhalla Golf Club

2️⃣ Gardner Dale found the green on hole 13 at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta

3️⃣ Down on Florida’s Emerald Coast, Travis Robertson nearly made one at Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club, hole 16.

Big name courses. Big history. Same SmartPin excitement everywhere we go.

Today was a good day! Since I kind of match the pros, hopefully they will add me to the group text. 😂
