This was Kodiak’s first time seeing AOH. This was also the first time doing bitework with a different handler since 2022.

He may not be the fastest, but once he sees it, he’s gonna get it.

💕 SINGLE AND READY TO MINGLE! 🐾

Name: Cooper
Age: 4 years young
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog Mix
Relationship Status: Single and looking for my forever adventure buddy
Kids: Maybe someday, but I prefer the older, more mature crowd.
About Me: Neutered, handsome, athletic, and ridiculously intelligent. 😎

My Bio:
I’m an outdoorsy guy with a big brain, a zest for life, and a serious case of wanderlust. I’m looking for that special someone (or family!) who wants a ride-or-die adventure partner.

Road trips? Shotgun! 🚗
Hiking? I’ll lead the way! 🥾
Beach days? Say less! 🌊
A night out on the town? I’m your wingman! 🍻

I’m not just a pretty face, either. I love a good mental challenge, and while I definitely have an adventurous side, I know how to Netflix and chill once my physical and intellectual needs are met.

My Ideal Match:
Someone active, fun, and willing to put a little effort into our relationship. I’m not looking for a couch potato, but I don’t need to run a marathon every day either. Keep my body moving, my brain working, and my heart happy, and I’ll be your loyal sidekick.

Red Flags: 🚩
Boring dates, lack of communication, and people who think a backyard is a substitute for quality time.

Green Flags: 💚
Adventures, consistency, good snacks, and someone who appreciates a smart, slightly spicy man.

Think we might be a match? 😍

I’m currently accepting applications for my forever person! No swiping required—just give The Hey Farm in Robertsdale, AL a call to set up our first date.

Let’s make some memories together. 🐾❤️

Members of the Hey Baby Bite Club and Novice Protection Club, along with some new friends, had a fantastic weekend with Charlie Randolph!

We exposed our dogs to some new and challenging bitework scenarios that were so much fun and gave us insight into where our dogs struggle and where they are strong.

He also gave us some ideas to implement into our sport training as well as practical use training as personal protection dog handlers.

We can’t wait to do it again!! Pics and videos coming soon!

🐾 From Shelter Dog to Family Dog — Meet Rollo! 🐾

Rollo was recently rescued from the shelter, and after spending most of his young life there, adjusting to life in a home with a new pack has been a bit of a challenge.

But this handsome boy has been putting in the WORK! 💪

Rollo has been with us for two weeks now, and he’s already made some incredible progress! He just wrapped up his first lesson with Dad, who is taking him home for the weekend.

This is one of our favorite parts of our board and train program! Dad gets to see how Rollo’s new structure, boundaries, and skills translate into everyday life. We’ll use that feedback to make adjustments and continue building on his progress next week.

Because here’s the thing: Training the dog is only half the job.

At The Hey Farm, our board and train programs heavily involve the owners. We believe lasting results come from teaching BOTH ends of the leash. That’s why we include weekly owner lessons, weekends at home, and training customized to each dog’s individual needs.

We’re not just teaching dogs to behave for us. We’re teaching families how to communicate, build relationships, and succeed together long after training is over. ❤️

🐕 Got a furry friend who could use some guidance? Whether you’re dealing with reactivity, struggling with manners, bringing home a new rescue, or just looking to build a better relationship with your dog, we’d love to help!

Sometimes the most important training looks like doing absolutely nothing. 🖤

Board & Train Mila is practicing the art of doing nothing after a nice decompression walk.

We don’t do cookie-cutter training here at The Hey Farm. Every dog comes to us with their own personality, history, strengths, and struggles—and our job is to meet the dog in front of us.

Mila is incredibly intelligent, but her training isn’t just about obedience. She’s learning trust, manners, emotional regulation, and how to settle a busy, chaotic mind. Those are things you can’t teach with sits, downs, and heels alone.

Sometimes progress looks like a perfect obedience session. Sometimes it looks like a dog learning that they don’t have to be “on” all the time—that they can simply exist, relax, and let the world happen around them.

Mila is an incredibly sweet, silly girl, and we’re having a blast getting to know her and watching her come into her own. 🐾

Commandment #7.

How someone handles losing (or sometimes just not reaching a goal on a given day) tells me an awful lot about them. I’ve seen some very poor examples. And… I’m happy to say that I’ve recently seen some very good examples. Yes, dogs will be dogs. Yes, sometimes dogs have an “off” day. And yes, sometimes more training and/or preparation is needed. Regardless of which is the case, how you handle it speaks volumes about your character. So, maybe…
