This Friday, 09/26, coming down from Fairbanks: Valley Below with Seattle based singer-songwriter: Jeff Kanzler! Valley Below is an original mash-up of all the great American music traditions: country, blues, gospel, rock, bluegrass, soul, and everything in between. It’s groovy, it’s fun, it’s fresh and a little weird sometimes–a good mix of originals, deep covers, and songs you know.

✨BAND SPOTLIGHT: We’re 9 days out from our 5 Year Bash and it’s time to introduce our final band! You know them, you love them, back for the 3rd time to the Lat 65 stage… Valley Below! ✨Playing together since 2016, this band doesn’t fit into any boxes - they play a variety of styles, centered around several genres of American music like rock, soul, country, and blues. ✨Lead singer, Caitlyn Frye, hopes the following for you when you listen to Valley Below play: I want [you] to feel something. If you’re there for joy and dancing and friends, I hope you can find that. If you want to connect deeply with the lyrics and it makes you cry, that can be good too. If it makes you feel like you should get your own dusty guitar out of the closet and start playing it again, even better. ✨We hope you find that from Valley Below and all our performers at our 5 Year Bash! ✨Grab your tickets at the link in our bio!!

What a beautiful weekend getting to gather with our music community in Fairbanks, learn from each other, and find ways to help our industry thrive. Highlights for me include getting to sing with one of my students for her radio debut (!!!), hearing from our @fairbanksarts association about resources on a national and local level, local leaders @mindyformayor and @grierhopkinsformayor and our all ages music scene panel to hear how we can better support young people making music in Fairbanks. Thank you to our amazing team at @music_alaska (@mariancallmusic @careysewardmusic @caifrye) for making this event happen and all of the volunteers, panelists and sponsors for supporting this event. It has never been more important for us to lean on community and look out for each other. This weekend was a much needed reminder of what that looks like. 💛
