This is some of the art that I really liked at the Visual Arts Museum of Paranormal Antiquities. There have been efforts to debunk claims re: the authenticity of VAMPA’s collection. But imo the “antiquities” are centered around debatably true vs. mythical topics anyway (think vampires, exorcisms, etc.)

The website points out that the collection reflects the intersection of faith and art, and I think it’s safe to say that we all know art isn’t always based on reality or truth. There is lots of artisanry like hand-carved stakes for driving through the hearts of vampires. And you can decide for yourself how long ago, or how recently, these treasures were created and how much their creators were motivated by actual fear vs. theatrics. I’ll post photos soon.

VAMPA (Visual Arts Museum of Paranormal Antiquities) in Doylestown, PA is a magical place and a must for anyone who has any interest in vampires and the paranormal. Everything inside is beautiful OR creepy or beautiful AND creepy. Everything outside is whimsical OR odd or whimsical AND odd. Worth every penny and worth a detour. #vampires #paranormal #museums #buckscounty #spookyseason
