My absolute best live gear setup. 🎸🔥

The LINE 6 HX STOMP isn't just for tone
I also use it as the MIDI switcher to control the entire rig.

What a bass!!!!

Just in: De Gier BeBop 5 in Indian Yellow

Maybe the best Super Jazz Bass 5 string we’ve ever had at the shop. Equally amazing in Passive or Active modes (Vanderkley preamp).
Available for immediate shipping anywhere in the world 🌍🌎

We are truly impressed!

Estamos realmente impresionados

Thursday night at the Camberley Theatre, Man of the World: The Music of Peter Green playing to a packed house, so good to see a great attendance at a first visit to a venue, bodes well for future visits.
Such an amazing theatre, well supported and with a great technical team, special thanks to Jay on sound and Jack on lights.
The tour continued last night at Huntingdon Hall Worcester and tonight at Edge Arts in Much Wenlock, both venues sold out 🙏

1990, Calcutta. Still the early days of playing bass guitar, trying to balance this with my ‘main’ career aims. I start getting my first issues of Bass Player and there is a mention of a certain Anthony Jackson.
Never heard of him.
Suddenly, I note that he is here, there, everywhere – with Chaka Khan, Steely Dan, Dave Weckl, Steve Khan’s Eyewitness, Michel Camilo, Michel Petrucciani, Lee Ritenour, Hiromi, to name a few. In fact, his playing with Eyewitness struck many of us like-minded musicians in Kolkata, and was also a stepping stone towards my friendship with the great guitarist, Steve Khan. This was a man with a revolutionary vision, born just after the Fender 4-string bass guitar was conceptualised and made, who then took his unique view on the natural evolution of this instrument, bringing us bass players into the world of what the range of the bass guitar should be, with him then faithfully sticking to the 6-string contrabass guitar, first made for him in 1975, the forerunner in the expansion of ERBs that was to come. Later I recall Jimmy Johnson was playing a 5-stringer, and despite the usual myth, even Jaco had been testing a couple of 5-stringers towards the very end of his career. This also spurred me to listen to a lot of other players heading in this direction, key amongst them Patitucci, Haslip & Caron. A lot of mention of the craftsmanship from the Fodera team, but I must shout out to the likes of Carl Thompson, who built the first ever such bass for AJ. Today, the ERB is a standard and not an anomaly.
To this day, I can keep listening to his lean, tasteful lines that sit so appropriately supporting the rest of the band. The only way I have known him is how he influenced my own journey – I got my first 6-string bass in 2007 and have not looked back, it would now feel unnatural to play anything different. The overarching significant way I think AJ has influenced me is to be analytical about the what, where and when of the notes I play, and to make the same sit quietly, precisely but yet hopefully authoritatively within a band context.
Thank you Anthony Jackson, bass visionary, revolutionary, guru; onwards to the ensemble of the empyrean.
