Mel’s 50th called for red, cheetah, and a little disco! ❤️🐆🪩 We transformed Babou’s by draping every wall, layering deep reds, and adding a custom red lacquer dance floor. Cheetah accents, fun metallic ceiling balloons, and disco balls made it ready for a PARTY!

A little surreal seeing our story in print!

When we decided to build Modern Home Mortgage, we knew we wanted to do things a little differently. Less corporate, more personal. More options, more conversations, and a whole lot of figuring things out together.

Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that no two buyers, families, or financial situations look the same. And that’s exactly why we love what we do.

A huge thank you to North Dallas Real Producers for sharing our story and giving us the opportunity to talk about what we’re building.

Before you judge how hard I’m trying, please remember: there are little people at home counting on me, and family and employees who do as well. I’m going to be vulnerable here. My life is not easy. I receive more hate than I let on, and being strong doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. But I am so grateful for it all.

You see the stages, the treatments, the conferences, the accomplishments. What you can’t see is everything I’m carrying while I show up. I’m a mother trying to provide for her children. Trying to meet their needs, including special needs. Trying to build a future where they are cared for, supported, and safe.

That is deeply personal to me. Every opportunity I work for has a family behind it. I started with very little in the projects of NYC with immigrant parents who sacrificed their lives for us and never taking anything for granted. I grew always humble and willing to work really hard. I became a surgeon. I was fired when I asked for equal pay to the men in my program and I was fired. And I had to figure out how to start again.

Eventually, my story went from fired to Forbes. It’s a beautiful headline, but living through it was harder. Ive had to start over multiple times in life and sometimes It makes you question yourself and wonder how you’re going to take care of the people who depend on you.

This is a reminder that there is room for all of you to succeed, too. We’re all just trying to survive. I still have big dreams. I’m still working towards it and im going to keep dreaming big!

And I hope my children grow up knowing that their mama was scared sometimes, hurt sometimes, and tired sometimes but she kept showing up. Here’s to all of us who refuse to let our dreams be squashed 🙌! We got this, nothing can stop us! Im rooting for y’all as well! Let’s be uncrushable ✨together! 🙌🙌🤍
