MALAIKARAISS – COLLECTION 30

Set-Design for PLAYGROUND LOVE by @vanessaheepen
with @juliahrtmyr and beautiful patchworks by @jsr__studio 🤍

Vanessa and her team transformed the venue PIER 61|64 into an industrial playground connecting cozy and comfortable indoors with outside‘s stunning views of Spree river and a subtle breeze.

@bett1.de mattresses were turned into artistic seating installations — making them the perfect place to be in the Front Row.

THANKS to @trockland for providing a space to let creativity flow!
@artekglobal for supporting us with iconic Aalto stools for outdoor seating and @pragagency for connecting the dots.

“Alongside larger objects, we included smaller ceramic pieces, each distinguished through their unique glaze. We were interested not only in form but also in structure and surface.”

A dialogue of blurring the lines.

From an exclusive editorial collaboration between @vanessaheepen and ignant founder @clemenspoloczek .

“Bringing art and design together is discursive. Some say art is a separate discipline from design, and should therefore stay separate from it, but for me what’s interesting is the boundary between both – namely that it’s undefined; a matter of perception,” she says. “I’m not trying to say that art is design or vice versa – of course, they are their own subjects and domains, but sometimes the division between them dissolves. That can happen through staging, the way objects are placed in relation to each other. Through this, I want to start a conversation, though its conclusions remain in the eye of the beholder.”
