The Porchfest Chai Pop-Up was the most successful one yet — and it marked a huge milestone: the first time I charged for chai. That might sound small, but for me, it was a big deal.

I’ve had many hard days as an immigrant — far from family, chasing the American dream, trying to support my parents, build something meaningful, be a good dad, a good friend, and give back to my community. It’s not easy, and some days feel heavier than others.

But every time I get to serve chai — to share a piece of my culture, to see people smile, to watch strangers become community — I’m reminded why I keep going.

Porchfest showed me what’s possible when people believe in you. I’m so thankful for my friends, the artists, the guests, and everyone who sees the passion in Hatti and pushes me to keep chasing this dream.

We served so many cups, played so much music, and shared even more love. And I’ll never forget it.

This is just the beginning.
Thank you for being part of the story. 🙏

March is over so it’s time for another birthday reflection, this year on what women carry:

Yesterday, the woman in front of me walked with a briefcase, packed and seams unraveling as we walked.
Mine is still too new to know this is where it’s headed too.

Women carry.
(Despite never having enough pockets.)

My mom, her mom, my sisters:
Their bodies have known the weight, of actual life beneath their ribs,
The scars, the milk, the silent knowing.
And they would do it all again.

We carry every type of thread, weaving memories into fabric,
Holding the cloth up to our friends and family when they forget how the pattern goes.

We carry the quiet weapons:
Keys between fingers, pepper spray, sometimes a gun,
Because last time, the rock wasn’t enough.

We carry the ingredients of the recipe on how to balance strength and softness.
Strong, but not a bitch.
Soft, but not too much.

We cradle the tea cups, steeped in heat and secrets. We spill em, sometimes, but only when we need to.

The heels after a long night, always making ourselves uncomfortable, but elegant AF.

We carry. Often til the seams unravel, and then we strap up with a new bag and do it all over again. So, as a reflection of another year gone by, I want to thank the women who’ve taught me to carry, to share the carry and the tips on what to and what not to carry. I’m sending your hands and shoulders all the relief I have.

And my men, oh, you carry too.
But that’s a different type of weight I will never hold or know.

I was raised to be independent but renovating this house has made me realize it’s ok to ask for help every now and then too 😉

There were parts of this journey where I had to lean heavily on my fiancé and family. It’s probably the most uncomfortable I’ve ever felt but had I not opened up, this dream would have never come true.

Moral of the story? It’s ok to change “your ways”. One given moment doesn’t mean you have to lose yourself. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s probably a sign that you need some backup. AND THATS OK.
